That was terrible! At least this massive upset was expected from the Houston Texans on Wednesday, December 25. DeMeco Ryans and CJ Stroud’s team failed to clinch a victory against the Ravens, thereby losing the game with a poor 2-31 score. As obvious, the HC seems to be fumed with the results.
During a recent press conference after the Christmas game, Texans’s head coach DeMeco Ryans threw his team under the bus. His three-word opening statement – “We didn’t execute” – was capable enough to tell how much Ryans was upset with quarterback CJ Stroud and the rest.
Not only that! According to Houston reporter Cody Stoots on X, “DeMeco Ryans said they didn’t play complementary football today. Mentioned how the defense and special teams gave them a chance on that one drive and they couldn’t convert.” Yes, that’s true!

#Texans HC DeMeco Ryans opening statement — “We didn’t execute”
ONCE AGAIN, it’s laughable. #HTownMade #InvisibleTakes

The Texans had a rough start against the Ravens on Wednesday, but things actually got interesting in the second quarter. A 70-yard punt from Tommy Townsend pinned the Ravens at their own 3-yard line. On the very next play, Kamari Lassiter made a huge tackle on Derrick Henry for a safety. Suddenly, the Texans had some life.
Dameon Pierce kept the momentum going with a strong return on the free kick, bringing the ball near midfield. That’s when the offense finally showed signs of life. In addition to that, Robert Woods also hauled in a 16-yard catch, pushing the Texans into the Ravens’s territory. Then, John Metchie came through on third down, moving them to the 30-yard line.
Head coach DeMeco Ryans passed up a field goal, giving the opportunity to Woods. But the pass fell incomplete. However, a 20-yard pass interference penalty on Marlon Humphrey gave the Texans another chance. They were inches away from the end zone, but the Ravens’s defense again stood firm.
Next, DeMeco Ryans took another chance on fourth down. Consequently, Joe Mixon pushed forward but was stopped at the 1-yard line. So, in this way, the Ravens held their 10-2 lead, and the Texans failed multiple times. That’s the reason why the head coach is upset about the Texans’ failure to convert. Nevertheless, Ryans still has one message for his next rival team.
Did DeMeco Ryans give a subtle warning to Brian Callahan?
The Texans lost the Christmas game to the Ravens. But as the saying goes, ‘the show must go on’, head coach DeMeco Ryans also feels the same. Hence, as per Cody Stoots, during the post-game press conference, Ryans slammed his own team while keeping some hopes alive. Stoots reported the HC saying, “….this isn’t who the Texans are and isn’t who they represent. “You’ve got to check yourself,” he said, but expects them to come back ready for the next game.”
