Can the Cowboys survive without DeMarcus Lawrence and Micah Parsons? Is their season already over?

Dallas Cowboys won the week 4 game against the New York Giants. Their defense did well by holding the Giants to only 15 points. However, the game was intense. Players from both sides suffered injuries. While Giants’ wide receiver Malik Nabers is diagnosed with a concussion, America’s team defense lost some key members. Linebacker Micah Parsons sprained his ankle, and defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence injured his right foot. What’s going on with both?

Lawrence suffered an injury in the 3rd quarter. Before going out of the field, he had a sack. Though his X-ray results were negative, the team was waiting for the MRI scans. News flash! The DE is ruled out for several weeks because of his foot injury against the Giants. This is a jolt to the team.

Micah Parsons injured his left ankle in the 4th quarter at 3:30. He was taken to the locker room where he iced his left ankle. Though his X-ray reports were negative, he also awaited MRI scan results. Recent reports claim that he is out for the next 3 weeks, that is the 7th week. It’s a major blow. However, owner Jerry Jones, claimed something else.

The Cowboys doctor didn’t mention any severe injury for DeMarcus Lawrence and Micah Parsons. Feeling happy about the doctor’s opinion, Jones said, “I’m pleased that they feel good. Both feel good about it. That’s usually a good sign. I don’t know when I’ve seen a serious injury that the doctors didn’t say that’s a serious injury before the X-ray.

With such cracks in their defense, the revival path for the Cowboys might become difficult. Lawrence has been a rock for the team in the last 10 seasons.

Have an interesting take?

The DE’s right foot hasn’t been injured for the first time. In his rookie year (2014), he fractured his right foot in the training camp. Lawrence had to wait till the week 9 game against the Arizona Cardinals. He underwent back surgery in January 2016, which forced him out of action for several months.

In October 2018, the medical tests revealed a torn labrum in DE’s shoulder, which was causing pain for the last 2 years. DeMarcus Lawrence was put on the Injured Reserve (IR) list and didn’t play for 7 weeks. In September, he again injured his foot and underwent surgery. He was put on IR and missed 2 months of football.

With multiple injuries to the foot previously, it is a big worry if he has injured the same part. While the DE is confident and said, “I’ll be back in no time,” the team is reeling with a 2-2 win-loss record. In such a scenario, his early comeback becomes a necessity.
