“Throughout Mike McCarthy’s tenure here, including the last several weeks, I have been very complimentary of the job he has done….Prior to reaching the point of contract negotiations, though, it became mutually clear that it would be better for each of us to head in a different direction,” Jerry Jones took this final call regarding Mike McCarthy’s future this January. Now, that the spot of head coach is available in America’s team, will Deion Sanders be interested?
No doubt, Deion Sanders practically saved his Colorado Buffaloes for two years. For instance, Coach Prime led his team to secure bowl eligibility for the first time since 2020. So, as he is important for his franchise, many also wonder why not he would be interested in the NFL’s coaching job, especially when his sons Shilo and Shedeur Sanders are about to be drafted this offseason. Hence, as the Cowboys have the vacancy, many are speculating it to be filled by none other than Coach Prime. And guess what? Although Coach Prime hasn’t said anything officially, his subtle interest in the Cowboys is visible via a story shared by him on Instagram.
Well, it all recently started when during an episode of the KG Certified podcast, host Kevin Garnett asked Paul Pierce, “Man, Deion going to Dallas?” To which, the former basketball small forward said, “No, not yet. It looked like it, but it ain’t official yet. It ain’t official.” In addition, after calling himself Deion’s fan, Pierce expressed, “Whether I’m fans of certain things, I go to where the culture is represented. And Deion Sanders represents the culture. And I ain’t no Dallas fan, but because of his influence on the culture, that’s what’s going to bring me down there. That’s what brought me to Colorado.”

So, that means, Pierce clearly stated that though he isn’t a Cowboys fan, if Deion Sanders wants to go there, he would support him. This gesture was liked by Coach Prime himself, as he shared this video on his official Instagram story, giving a subliminal message that he might be interested in the position of HC for America’s team.
But the situation is complex here. And it seems Colorado might want Sanders to shift to the league. Wait, what?

Colorado pushed back Deion Sanders’s NIL request?
Deion Sanders worked magic at Colorado, turning the football program from an afterthought into a powerhouse in just two years. The buzz around the team skyrocketed, bringing in major media attention and, you’d think, a lot of money for the university. But despite all the success, the 2024-25 season didn’t quite end the way Sanders had hoped. Still, the future looked bright, with clear signs that bigger wins were just around the corner. But wait!

Things seem to be shifting. How? Well, as per recent reports, Sanders asked the university for more NIL funding to attract top recruits, but the school pushed back. Now, amidst this, the Cowboys are on the hunt of their new head coach. So, is Deion Sanders talking to Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones about their head coaching spot? This is a big question, which is unanswered for now.
As we all know, Sanders wants his sons, Shedeur and Shilo, to be in the NFL. And if they land on a team this year, why wouldn’t Deion Sanders want to coach his sons himself?
