Far away from New York, even in Munich, the Giants couldn’t save their face, as they fell to their eighth defeat of the season at the hands of the Carolina Panthers. Now, how far can the Giants tank before they decide enough is enough with head coach Brian Daboll? Although their co-owner, John Mara, did say that he is not ‘anticipating’ any changes until next season, is this new low, not enough for him to change his stance?
His team is turning out to be a laughingstock after losing their fifth consecutive game of the season. And that, too, against a Panthers side that had the worst defense in the NFL. Coming into today’s clash in Munich, the Panthers allowed 32.6 points per game. However, the Giants could only manage to put 17 on board while losing the clash in overtime.
After trailing by 10 points in the first half, the Giants managed to somehow tie the game thanks to Graham Gano’s last-second 42-yard field goal. However, their QB, Daniel Jones, ended up losing the football within the first snap itself, thereby allowing rookie Tyrone Tracy to recover it on the 23-yard line. Then, the final blow came on the back of Panthers kicker Eddy Pineiro, who scored a 36-yard field goal. This confirmed their loss in the Bavarian capital as Daboll admitted, “Wish I had it back. It didn’t work. Bad coaching.”

Although Daboll’s international trip may not have gone the way he would have wanted, he is not the only one to blame for their latest loss. Their signal caller, Daniel Jones, was equally abysmal as he finished with 22-of-37 passes for 190 yards. His 2 interceptions and one rushing TD didn’t do any good to the Giants on Sunday.
Even in the first half, when Daboll had a chance to change his QB he didn’t, as he thought it wasn’t necessary. Is 6-of-14 passes for 54 yards and an interception not enough to opt for a change? Well, Daboll didn’t think so as he continued with his $160 million QB. However, it may cost his job in New York as the fans had enough of him trying to change their fortunes this season.

Fans call for Brian Daboll’s sack as the Giants lose their eighth in Munich
What’s your perspective on:
How many more losses before the Giants finally pull the plug on Brian Daboll's coaching tenure?
Have an interesting take?
Although Daboll came out saying, “I believe we’re got the right people. Results aren’t there yet,” the fans may have voiced their opinion. As the Giants enter a 14-day break, they could find themselves under a new manager, with the fans increasingly voicing their opinion.
This fan wrote, “Fire Brian Daboll.” Well, those are not the only calls made by fans as they watch their team lose to the Panthers in Munich, “Fire Daboll. Promote Kafka to interim.” As you might know, he is the current assistant coach in New York, and if the Giants decide to fire Daboll, he could get the role on an interim basis.

However, it’s still speculation as another fan called for the immediate sacking of their head coach, “Fire Brian Daboll immediately.” Out of all those reactions, there was a fan who even wanted the Giants to leave their head coach back in Munich, “Leave Brian Daboll in Germany. Words to describe this loss. Pathetic. Embarrassing. Gutless. This is a new low for the Giants. The coach has to go.” Even Darryl Slater of NJ.com said this defeat may “seal” Daboll’s job in New York.
Firing Daboll may not be a wrong decision, considering the way the Giants are going about in their season. However, they must also address their QB, who seems to regress every week since signing his lucrative contract in 2023.
