As a quarterback in the NFL, it takes blood, sweat, and tears to help reach your team for a chance at the Super Bowl. And when you reach the top, you might fall at the last hurdle. It’s not as easy as you think; no, it ain’t. With 32 franchises facing a cutthroat competition, only two are lucky enough to make the end game. Brock Purdy and the Niners were also one!

Purdy, Purdy, Purdy… Santa Clara fans hyped up the quarterback and the team when they reached the Super Bowl in 2024. Although the franchise failed to get Lombardi for themselves, many still supported the entire team. But then came the nightmare – the 2024 season.

Brock Purdy, recognized as the comeback player of the year, suffered a right elbow contusion with nerve inflammation. This loss and the injuries of other key players in the roster dropped them to an embarrassing 6-11 record, the team’s most losses since the 2020 season.

Alas, the dream doesn’t just shatter! It also ruined Brock Purdy’s image among fans. But still, the team might believe in him, probably giving him one more chance. As the San Francisco 49ers are ruthlessly making decisions this offseason, it will allow them to meet Purdy’s contractual situation.

Nevertheless, for now, both sides have yet to reach an agreement. But Purdy’s ex-teammate Deebo Samuel has a piece of advice for him – Get what you deserve family!!!

This five-word message appeared in a story uploaded by him on his official Instagram account. Samuel shared a picture with Brock Purdy from his game days in this new update on Wednesday. Along with it, the WR tagged his former quarterback and attached a song by Fridayy – “Came Too Far.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Mac Jones the 49ers' insurance policy, or a real threat to Purdy's starting role?

Have an interesting take?

Deebo Samuel’s intentions were clear!

He wants his ex-QB to get what he deserves and not settle for anything less. After all, the man has proven his worth in his rookie contract ($934,252 per year average), despite being called Mr. Irrelevant.

Deebo Samuel’s trade from the 49ers to the Washington Commanders for a fifth-round pick is perhaps the most surprising trade of the year. His exit shook the team’s roster, as some more popular names joined him in the departure later. So, for now, Samuel has a lot more talent to show to his new team and for the fresh QB Brock Purdy, too.

On the other hand, he needs to prove this year. The 49ers might be ready with a dagger to cut the ties with him anytime, by the way!

Brock Purdy gets a new backup!

In 2021, the 49ers made a bold move, trading up in the draft. Some thought they’d take Mac Jones but went with Trey Lance instead. Jones slipped to No. 15 and started strong in New England, even making the Pro Bowl as a rookie. Then things fell apart. Belichick handed the offense to a defensive coach (Matt Patricia), and everything went downhill. Jones wasn’t afraid to push back, and the tension grew.

Fast forward to 2024-he gets traded to the Jaguars, but that chapter was short-lived. Now, as a free agent, he’s found a new home in San Francisco. Yes! Mac Jones is officially a 49er.

Four years ago, San Francisco thought about taking him at No. 3. Now, he’s finally landed there on a two-year, $7 million deal, with $5 million guaranteed and incentives pushing it higher. With this move, he also became a backup for Brock Purdy.

Jones’s signing couldn’t come at a more interesting time. The 49ers want to lock in Brock Purdy long-term, but negotiations might not be smooth. If talks get tricky, Jones gives them leverage. Purdy is set to make just $5.2 million in 2025, and if needed, the franchise tag is always an option for 2026.

But at least for now, two things are certain – San Francisco has some big decisions ahead, and Purdy’s job is in danger!
