I think everything balances out. You’ve got a human element with the officials. They try to do their best job. Coaches take a lot of heat, one way or the other, I don’t pay much attention to it.” With all the accusations coming in for the Kansas City Chiefs since the start of this season, HC Andy Reid believes it’s all human element. He thinks that despite the hatred and anger towards the NFL referees, the officials do a great job. Now that was Reid’s thought. Does Buffalo Bills’ coach Sean McDermott think this way too?

It seems the Bills haven’t come out of their AFC upset yet! After losing to the Chiefs, 32-29, Sean McDermott is getting real on what he thinks about NFL referees’ influence in the game. ESPN reporter Alaina Getzenberg shared a screenshot of McDermott’s latest perspective on the officiating Chiefs vs Bills game. And guess what?

Sean McDermott doesn’t blame the Chiefs or the NFL officials for the job. He expressed, “I mean, listen, we went into the game….And one of my messages to the team, and this happens from time to time is you’re going to have to, you’re not going to get calls. We’re not going to get calls. And I think just when you prepare a team, you prepare them ahead of time, mentally for this is the way it’s going down. And that’s, and you live with that. It’s, it’s, that’s not the reason why we lost.”

Hmm, it seems Sean McDermott didn’t want to dwell on the refs after the Bills’ loss. It’s because he made it clear—focusing on that would only be a distraction. He emphasized that instead of blaming calls, the team should look at what they can control. Whether it’s coaching, playing, or making adjustments, improvement has to come from within. So, all in all, he acknowledged that controversial calls will always happen. But teams need to rise above them and keep playing their game.

Josh Allen’s penalty call on first down was the highlight of Sunday’s showdown. This provoked many, including the Bills Mafia, to question the refs’ decisions and their arguable favoritism towards the Chiefs. But is it really the case?

NFL executive clears the air on officiating rumors

Bills’ HC Sean McDermott thinks the Bills need to step up their game rather than pointing out refs and others’s mistakes. But if we ask former NFL head of officiating Dean Blandino, he simply didn’t buy into the idea that the Chiefs get special treatment from referees. Blandino, who is now a FOX Sports rules analyst, expressed that there’s “too much” talk about the refs favoring Chiefs in the NFL. But in reality, according to him, favoritism of any kind is not there with the reigning Super Bowl champions.

What’s your perspective on:

Are the Chiefs really getting all the calls, or is it just bad luck for the Bills?

Hence, Blandino expressed, “People are talking about officiating a little too much. … It’s always going to be a part of the conversation. Do teams get breaks at times? They do. And not every call is right. And sometimes that happens. I think it evens out over time. Me watching it, I don’t see these games and say the Chiefs are getting all these calls. These are close, close plays, and they happened to go in the Chiefs’ favor on Sunday.”

But all these claims haven’t stopped the debate! With the Chiefs’ dominance, their success has often met questionable calls. And probably, the Super Bowl will also be no different.
