The Eagles are ruling the NFC East with 12 wins in their column. Jalen Hurts and Co. were eyeing a divisional conquest, like the Chiefs, with one more victory, but sadly could not. In Week 16, the Jayden Daniels-led Commanders beat the Eagles 36-33. With ten wins now, the Commanders have cemented a playoff place. But for the Eagles, though they have qualified for the playoffs as well, more troubles are brewing as the league reaches its crucial point.

This season, injuries and concussions have plagued some of the league’s biggest players. New to the list is Eagles star QB Jalen Hurts. It seems bad luck has hit the Eagles squad, as in the same game, the team’s QB2 Kenny Pickett also suffered an injury.

However, after the game, the QB2 revealed that he hurt his ribs on a hit. Pickett underwent X-rays after the game, but there is no confirmation about his injury. Amid all this, Eagles WR DeVonta Smith had a few words of appreciation for the QB2, who had the team’s back when it was most needed. “He played well. I think he settled in well and I think he made the right reads,” said Smith after the game. Pickett scored one TD and racked up 143 yards.

Jalen Hurts got hurt on an 11-yard run to Washington’s 21-yard line when Frankie Luvu and Bobby Wagner brought him down. At first, it looked like he might come back, but he got ruled out for the rest of the game. Uh-oh, with Hurts sidelined, Nick Sirianni’s squad faces some serious trouble. If injuries keep both QB1 and QB2 out, Tanner McKee would step in. The Stanford alum debuted in the NFL with the Eagles in 2023 but has stayed in the QB3 spot ever since. Also, given that he hasn’t played a single game this season, relying on him might not be a good idea.

While they have about a week to see if Hurts could be ready to return to the gridiron, the Eagles‘ QB2 opened up about his injury.

When Jalen Hurts had to leave the gridiron following the concussion, the Eagles were leading the game. And Kenny Pickett made sure to keep up the lead. As soon as he stepped in, Pickett hit A.J. Brown with a 4-yard touchdown pass on third down. The Eagles were up 14-0, with almost seven minutes remaining in the first quarter. But sadly, they couldn’t stop the Commanders’ QB Jayden Daniels.

Do you remember a few days ago when people were comparing Daniels to Lamar Jackson? Steelers HC Mike Tomlin told them to be “real slow” in making that comparison to the Ravens star. Well, it looks like Jayden isn’t slowing down now. The 24-year-old scored five touchdowns, racking up 258 yards.

Following the loss, Kenny Pickett shared an update on his injury. The QB2 said he will have more X-rays on Monday. Looks like, we’ll have to wait another day for an update on him. The former Steelers player also mentioned that he thinks he’ll be ready for the week 17 game. The Eagles have two remaining games, one against Jerry Jones Cowboys and another against the Giants. With the playoffs around the corner, they need both Jalen and Pickett back on the field.
