David Bakhtiari’s career with the Packers was nothing short of remarkable. Over his 11 seasons with the team, he earned numerous accolades, including First-Team All-Pro honors twice and Second-Team All-Pro honors three times. But, the Packers placed him on injured reserve (IR) during the last season due to a knee injury that necessitated multiple surgeries.

Bakhtiari recently underwent a positive follow-up examination with orthopedic expert Dr. Brian Cole. Dr. Cole, who chairs the Orthopaedics department at Rush University Medical Center, provided encouraging news, proclaiming Bakhtiari to be on track for a return to the field in the upcoming 2024 season. Since Bakhtiari and Rodgers formed a strong bond during their time together with the Packers, the Jets could be the O-lineman’s potential landing spot.

Announcing his exit from Green Bay on X, Bakhtiari conveyed his gratitude, saying, A lot of emotion in this. I just want to say THANK YOU Green Bay. Thank you for the last 11 years. It’s been a hell of a run For whatever happens next, I look forward to it. Rodgers reacted to Bakhtiari’s post and included a heart emoji, further highlighting their close relationship.

The Jets have already signed a defensive tackle, an offensive guard, and a veteran backup quarterback during Free Agency. However, they have not yet secured a starting offensive tackle. David can surely fill the gap and can be a potential fit for the team, considering his records with the Packers.

Can David be a good fit for the Jets?

Bakhtiari became the first rookie in Green Bay since 1978 to start every game. That’s not all, as the tackle was the sole newcomer to start every game at left tackle in 2013. In 2020, Bakhtiari secured a four-year, $105.5 million contract extension and became the highest-paid offensive lineman. However, injuries soon marred his upward career. He tore his ACL in 2020, missing almost the entire 2021 season, and starting for only 11 games in 2022.

The Jets are actively seeking a starting left tackle since they anticipate free agents Mekhi Becton and Duane Brown will not re-sign. Even though they picked up Olumuyiwa “Olu” Fashanu as the 11th overall pick in the 2024

Therefore, Bakhtiari’s return to the NFL is eagerly anticipated, and his potential reunion with Rodgers in New York adds an interesting twist to his comeback story.
