Could Davante Adams be the missing piece for the Jets to finally make a deep playoff run?

If there’s drama brewing in Las Vegas, “1-7 doesn’t create any of it.” It’s been a few weeks since the rumors about Davante Adams leaving the Las Vegas Raiders started surfacing. However, that trade might just materialize because the Raiders are reportedly in talks with teams interested in Adams. Well, that list might be long, because who isn’t interested in him?

A bit of a recap of 1-7’s situation before we get into it: Antonio Pierce reportedly liked a social media post about Davante Adams’ trade speculations. Then the veteran receiver spoke to Kay Adams and tried to clear the air. However, the Raiders receiver is waiting to “let the chips fall where they may.” Now, it has become official that Adams has requested a trade, so here are some teams you might want to watch out for.

Potential landing spots for Davante Adams

Michael Fabiano of SI shared a screenshot on X of a Sports Illustrated article that said, “Don’t be surprised if Davante Adams has already played his last snap with the Raiders.” Antonio Pierce liked the post and caused a whirlwind of confusion around the league. This post came after Adams missed the game against the Cleveland Browns due to his hamstring injury. Is it true? Will we not see him again in black and silver? If not, there are other places he can still go to. Later, Jordan Schultz shed more light on the matter.

This is an obvious one, but the New York Jets might snag him up to pair with Aaron Rodgers. The Jets receiver core might do better with an additional veteran besides Allen Lazard, who also implored the Jets to consider the possibility of hiring Adams. In late July, A-Rod expressed, “I love Davante Adams, I can’t wait to play with him … again.” Things haven’t been the same since.

Have an interesting take?

When Kay Adams asked number 17 about reuniting with his long time Packers ex-teammate, “How could you not?” is all that Adams could say about it. Rodgers convinced the Jets to hire Allen Lazard, so adding the 6x Pro Bowl receiver to the roster might not be a far-fetched possibility.

While speaking of possibilities, it’s also likely that the Pittsburgh Steelers might pick up the stalwart. When Adams joined the Las Vegas Raiders, it was with the hopes of getting “that trophy at the end of the year.” If he still has the Lombardi winning spirit in him, he might as well give the Pittsburgh team a go. They could do with a solid receiver besides George Pickens. The Steelers were heavily invested in Brandon Aiyuk a few months ago and maybe, their doors are still open to a veteran wideout like Adams.

But there’s an interesting story brewing in the background that people might have forgot about, and that’s the story of Davante Adams and Derek Carr.

More places that you might want to keep an eye out for

In all honesty, time doesn’t favor anyone. So, if Davante Adams gets a chance to play with his longtime friend Derek Carr, he might want to give that a shot. The only reason that #17 joined the Raiders was because of the New Orleans Saints QB. Carr and Adams played together in their last two years at Fresno State. Maybe we can see a heartfelt reunion once again.

But another serious spot for him to try out might be the Buffalo Bills. With Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis gone, Khalil Shakir and Keon Coleman are trying their best to keep the team afloat. However, with a veteran presence, Josh Allen might have someone to rely on in the long run. Bills always seem to find a place in the playoffs somehow and this time, if Adams is with them, it could be a whole different story.

Also, we can’t miss out on the Washington Commanders. They were in the competition to get Brandon Aiyuk to help Jayden Daniels but backpedaled later. Maybe Davante Adams will convince them to bet all their chips in one place. For now, Adams hasn’t received any communication regarding the matter from his own team. It’s on a day-to-day basis. Maybe things will change tomorrow.
