Can Aaron Rodgers still lead the Jets to glory despite his rusty return?

Aaron Rodgers, the New York Jets quarterback, has been in the spotlight for almost a year. Following his injury in the previous season, there are numerous theories regarding the player; especially when he returns to the field at 40! Over the QB’s career, Davante Adams has always had a strong bond with Rodgers, dating back to their years with the Green Bay Packers. The Las Vegas Raiders’ wide receiver shared his views on his ex-teammate in the Up& Adams podcast.

Questions arose about Rodgers’ rusty return to the field following his injury. Adams didn’t hesitate to defend his ex-teammate. When asked about Rodgers’ performance in the game with the 49ers, Davante Adams downplayed any concerns about rust. He acknowledged Rodgers’ time away from the field. “For him having missed a full year of competitive football, I think he looked pretty good out there,” Adams remarked.

He added, “Rust is the thing everybody has a little bit of regardless… that first game is always tricky. They went up against really probably the best team in football right now,” hinting that expectations might have been set too high for Rodgers’ first game from injury.

This isn’t the first time Adams has rushed to Rodgers’ defense. Back in their Green Bay days, Adams consistently vouched for his ex-QB, especially when the QB was portrayed as a tough teammate. “All the negative things I’ve heard, I share none of those feelings,” Adams had said in response to previous criticism of Rodgers’ leadership.

During their time together with the Packers, Davante Adams became one of Rodgers’ favorite targets, racking up 669 catches and 8,121 yards. When Rodgers went down with the Achilles injury, Adams admitted it was “tough” to see his friend sidelined. But if there’s anyone who can bounce back stronger, the 31-year-old believes it’s A-Rod.

It is clear that Rodgers is back from the injury, and expectations are high for the four-time MVP. His performance in the Jets-49ers game has been closely watched.
