You have got to find reasons to smile, even during the tough times. This season might have been the worst for the New York Jets, but they still found a reason to celebrate (And no it’s not their recent win over the Jaguars). I mean, it could have been, especially after all those losses stacking up, but let’s be real, the season’s already slipped out of their hands like sand. Then, what’s the real reason for the Jets’ joy? It’s their WR Davante Adams hitting another milestone. Pretty solid reason to celebrate, right?
In week 15 against the Trevor Lawrence-led Jaguars, Jets’ Davante Adams scored the 100th receiving touchdown of his NFL career. And you know what the best part was? The pass was thrown by his longtime buddy Aaron Rodgers. As the 31-year-old made it to the century club (with 101 receiving touchdowns) he had something to say to Bucs WR Mike Evans. So, here is the deal: Davante is trailing behind Evans by two catches (as he is on 103). And the Jets’ WR says he’s going to catch him. “I’m definitely coming for him,” said Adams in conversation with Kay Adams on the Up and Adams show.
Davante Adams on being no. 10 ALL-TIME in rec TDs… just 2 behind Mike Evans 😏

Looks like a clear warning for Mike. Well, catching up to the Bucs WR is not that easy. And Davante knows all this too well. “It’s tough to keep with Mike, man. He is one of the greats and he is one of the most consistent football players ever. So he’s not going to make it easy on me,” opined the Jets’ WR. But then he adds that’s not going to stop him from trying. It’s going to be full-on, action-packed entertainment for NFL fans.
“I’m trying to stay up there with Mike, but I feel like every time he plays, he gets two touchdowns a game. But the rest of those guys, nobody else is playing. So if I can keep climbing then we’ll see where we end up,” added the former Packers star. It looks like he has his eyes set on the top.

Davante Adams has made it to the elite club
Davante Adams and Mike Evans are the only playing WRs in the most receiving touchdowns club. At the top is the legendary player Jerry Rice with 197 touchdowns, followed by the former 49ers star player Randy Moss (with 156 touchdowns to his name). So, now it’s all about the battle between the Jets’ WR and the Bucs’ WR. But for now, the Jets’ have a reason to dance as their teammate hits a career milestone. As bestie Aaron Rodgers put it rightly, “It’s too late but it’s still special. It does not steal any of the joy in it. It doesn’t take away any of the fun that’s gonna be on the bus now, on the plane.”
There’s always the sun after a dark, stormy night. The Jets’ sun is not fully up yet, but there are a few warm rays with Davante’s new milestone. The WR recalls how everyone on the team was hyping him up before the game against the Jaguars. His teammates were more excited than he was. Honestly, they need this kind of love, support, and hype from each other this season, considering how tough it has been for them.
