Finally, Davante Adams has moved on from the shadows of Aaron Rodgers. He was playing well at the LV Raiders when the call from the NY Jets came. Like a loyal friend, he answered affirmatively and came to the city that never sleeps. But it turned out to be a disaster. The duo couldn’t finish in the playoffs after a 5-12 win-loss record. Yet, the Palo Alto native had an exceptional year, with 85 receptions in 1,063 receiving yards and 8 touchdowns in 14 games (all starters). It was his 5th consecutive NFL season with 1000+ receiving yards. That’s impressive! It forced the LA Rams to go for the receiver.

They signed a 2-year $44 million deal with Adams, that could up to $46 million with incentives. On Friday, March 14, he amazed the fans by sharing photos of his trip from the building. The 4-word caption was apt: “Fun Day in LA…” He certainly enjoyed his first tour of the Rams facility while sharing a laugh with HC Sean McVay and other staff in the building. Wearing his diamond necklace with a DA pendant, the receiver also revealed his jersey number 17. That’s great news for the fans.

Davante Adams wasn’t alone. His wife, Devanne Villarreal, accompanied him, along with their son, Robert Tonyan Jr. In one of the photos Adams shared, Devanne could be seen chatting with the Rams’ head coach. Overall, the family looked happy.

Later, Adams answered questions from the media, praising the team’s efforts to sign him. The process began while he was on vacation in Japan. Speaking about their conversations, Adams revealed that McVay had sent him a clip highlighting what he liked about his play. He added, “He knows my football acumen, and it’s not like I’m going to come in and put my foot down. But it helps when you both see the game the same way. Right now, I kind of envision it looking like that for the year.” That’s classic Sean McVay.

Matthew Stafford had once revealed a hilarious incident when he went out with the coach and their wives to drink wine. But before they even reached the destination, McVay took out a paper and was discussing football with the quarterback. It’s funny, but it also shows the drive to succeed.

With the Rams, Adams arrives as a like-for-like replacement for Cooper Kupp. Even the NFL world is excited about his time in LA.
