It’s been a season straight outta soap opera for the Gang Green, hasn’t it? Firing head coach Robert Saleh in week 5 after the London loss to the Vikings was already a big shakeup. But then, forty-two days later, out goes GM Joe Douglas after the Jets’ ugly week 11 loss to the Colts. I mean, New York has been asking for Douglas’ firing, but the question is: why make the season more chaotic when they were already 3-8 heading toward a losing season? No wonder Davante Adams wanted a break from everything (in his words) during the bye week ahead of the Seahawks game.

The Jets star WR hit the pause button on everything, including his bromance with Aaron Rodgers. “To be honest, I didn’t talk to anybody… I was out there just relaxing,” Adams admitted on Up and Adams. “You talk about compartmentalizing.” Can you blame the guy? With everything crumbling around him, maybe catching up with his kids and his mom was the only sane move left.

The Jets came into 2024 riding high on offseason optimism. Rodgers was back, Achilles and all, ready to redeem his New York stint after playing just one game last year (and not even completing it). But by week 8, a loss to the Patriots as heavy favorites painted a bleak picture. Interim coach Jeff Ulbrich is now trying to rally a team that’s running out of gas and hope. Those playoff dreams (since 2010)? Hanging by a thread that’s thinner than the Jets’ offensive line.

Adams taking a breather seems a good move. But he’s back with a positivity that seems like delusion, or is it? Despite the setbacks, he’s keeping his chin up. But optimism can only carry you so far. With the Seahawks looming, the Jets need more than a morale boost—they need focus, discipline, and, oh yeah, some wins. Otherwise, this season will go down as another chapter in their ever-growing book of missed opportunities.

Davante Adams reassures the energy in the locker room feels good!

If you’re thinking the Jets’ locker room must feel like a funeral right now, Davante Adams wants you to know it’s not quite that bleak. He was pretty honest while talking about the locker room vibes during the Up & Adams appearance. “(The energy) feels good,” he said, though he didn’t sugarcoat the situation. “Nobody’s happy… being in this position is disappointing.” And why wouldn’t it be? What started as a season with high hopes has crash-landed for the Jets into a 3-8 rut.

Will Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams ever rekindle their Green Bay magic in New York?

Have an interesting take?

Adams joined the Jets in October, traded from Las Vegas to inject some life into the offense. You’d think reuniting him with Aaron Rodgers would be like reuniting Batman and Robin. But so far, they’ve struggled to rekindle that Green Bay magic. Still, Adams isn’t losing faith. “Nobody’s turning on one another, pointing fingers,” he reassured. That’s the last thing New York needs… A locker room lost would be like dark days ahead (ahem! The Pats right now are the best example of what NOT to do).

The road ahead doesn’t look any easier. The Jets have dropped seven of their last eight games, with a defense that’s been as porous as a broken offensive line. They’ve given up 59 points in the last two games, while Seattle’s defense has been stingy, allowing just 23 points over the same stretch. Adams believes in a turnaround, but the Jets will need more than belief—they’ll need execution and a not-give-up attitude. Naah! That’s a no-go.

Tighten up, Gang. We understand it’d be hard to watch until the season ends. But maybe, just maybe, it starts against the Seahawks.
