Five months ago, Davante Adams threw serious shade at Washington D.C. and the Commanders. Calling the city “not great” and slamming their “horrible” stadium. It sounded like he’d never set foot near the team again. And it looks like he is not keen on changing his mind anytime soon.
When Kay Adams asked Davante about teaming up with Terry McLaurin and being a Commanders player. Adams threw some shade wrapped in humor: “Yeah, I mean, I would have to give him my number (17) though, and I don’t know if I can do that.” While it seems like fun and all, he was making it clear that he won’t be going to the Commanders anytime soon. Talk about keeping that brand value intact.
Sorry #Commanders fans, I don’t think Davante Adams is ever coming to Washington 😅😭🔊

Adams and Terry McLaurin may both play wide receiver and rock the same #17 jersey, but let’s be real—there’s no way McLaurin is giving that number up. The guy has been absolutely electric this season. With 82 catches, 1,096 yards, and 13 touchdowns, he’s been the heart and soul of the Commanders’ offense. He’s a red-zone machine and one of the main reasons Washington stayed competitive this year.
So, if you think about it, the small sacrifice of giving up his #17 and leaving the Jets for Commanders may not be that bad an idea for Adams. Right? And well, the latter’s QB might just make him change his mind!
Could Adams agree to give up #17 for Jayden?
Davante Adams has never been shy about giving props to players he respects, and when it comes to Jayden Daniels, he’s all in. The Jets wideout recently opened up about what he sees in the LSU QB, and it’s clear he’s a huge fan of his style of play.
But here’s where it gets interesting – Adams admitted that Daniels is the kind of guy he wanted in Vegas. He straight-up said, “This is exactly why I wanted him in Vegas.” Yes, remember when Adams was with Las Vegas? “I don’t know if I would have ever had to leave Vegas if we would have been able to make that happen.” Translation? If the Raiders had pulled off getting Daniels, Adams might still be in silver and black.
“I mean, the kid’s just sitting in the pocket dialing it up, waiting for stuff to develop, hitting open receivers, and then running the ball and running through people and doing a little bit of everything.” Basically, Daniels is a walking highlight reel, and Adams is all in on the hype. He even compared Daniels’ game to his Heisman year, saying it’s the same electric energy.
Now, let’s connect the dots. Adams left Vegas because they couldn’t snag a QB like Daniels. So, what if Daniels is exactly the kind of guy who could lure Adams to D.C.? The Commanders hit the jackpot with their rookie QB, and if Daniels keeps balling out like this. He could be the franchise centerpiece that changes everything—even Adams’ mind about the Commanders. If there’s one thing Adams’ praise proves, it’s that he sees Daniels as a game-changer, maybe even a team-changer.
