The Green Bay Packers tried to follow a tried and tested path, i.e. draft a QB, allow him to learn from a veteran for three years, and then take the starting role. Yet, Jordan Love received nothing but criticism from fans and experts alike. In August 2023, a CBS Sports analyst Adam Schein came forth and harshly remarked, “This is a flat-out debacle, it’s also predictable, because Jordan Love can’t play football. Simple as that.” But he has found support from his head coach and a gold jacket holder. Now Raiders’ wide receiver Davante Adams has also offered words of praise for Love.

While the disapproval kept pouring in, Jordan Love firmly silenced the naysayers with his skills and leadership. He led the Packers to an impressive playoff berth from a 2-5 start, but the San Francisco 49ers ended their run in the Divisional Round. Love ended the regular season with 32 touchdowns for 4,159 yards and a rating of 96.1.

Shedding light on this roller coaster ride-kind of a season for the 25-year-old, Davante Adams put forth an honest verdict in favor of Love on The Rush with Maxx Crosby podcast. Calling out the sources who initially denounced the quarterback as he was ranked among one of the worst QBs in terms of passer rating, YPA, and interceptions, he opened up about the unwarranted pressure.

Adams, who was traded to the Raiders by the Packers in 2022, said, “The kid is a f**king baller man. I’m so happy for him.” Adams also mentioned that even though he doesn’t regret moving from the Packers, he would love to catch up with Love.

He said, “I haven’t really had a chance to truly sit down and talk with him, but I want to tell him at some point like, ‘I definitely don’t regret changing [teams], but I’m super proud of what you’ve done. If there’s a way I could pull you over here [to Las Vegas] and drag you with me like that, that would’ve been cool, too.” Further during the conversation, the host pointed out how the pressure on Love has been because of the quarterback position. While the role takes time to adjust, especially after big shoes need to be filled, some QBs like CJ Stroud make the job look easy.

To this bold take, Adams defended his former teammate adding, “So, there are certain people that come in and kind of make it seem like other guys are behind when really they are right where they’re supposed to be based off of the experience that they got. For me, I think that it was it was trash that they basically tried to bury him before he even got on the field um because you got to see. You can’t uh, you can’t count your, what you say, you can’t count your chickens till they hatch.”

Davante Adams’s support for the emerging QB showcases that Love is on the right track for being a worthy successor to Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers. Last season he completed 372-of-579 passes (64.2%) for 4,159 yards, suggesting that he is more than up for the role. Adams also addressed that and talked about how Love is maturing by the day.

“I think he is, he’s shown that,” Adams said. “He’s starting to come into his own. You see the way he’s talking in front of the media. He’s like a whole different person than what I saw when I was there and that comes with experience,” he added.

His stats for the season spell a game of resilience and caliber, especially the strong second-half game he brings forth. Well, apart from these words of encouragement, Love’s coach LaFleur has also backed the quarterback and his talent as a leader.

After a stunning season that shut many critics up, two important Green Bay members came forth in support of Jordan Love and his skills. Coach Matt LaFleur, who has seen the in and out of the team said, “I think he’s had an outstanding season. I know it didn’t end the way we wanted it to. I couldn’t be more proud of just who he is as a man, first and foremost, as a leader of this team. I know this one’s going to hurt him. I’m sure he’ll be really hard on himself. He’s just got to use it as fuel to continue to get better.”

If that wasn’t enough of a booster before the next season and after a satisfying 2023 run, Hall of Famer Brett Favre’s words sure would have cemented the same. The gold-jacket holder took to X after the playoff disappointment and wrote, “Lots to be excited about. Jordan keep your chin up because I believe you can be the best Packer QB yet.”

He further added, “I’m sure I speak for all packer fans when I say ‘we are very proud of you and can’t wait to see what the future holds.'”Thus, it will be worth the anticipation of how the upcoming season will unfold for Jordan Love and the Packers. If the emerging QB carries forth the momentum from last season, he will have more people singing his praises like Adams and Favre.
