Home/NFL

If we rewind a bit to the 2024 NFL season, Dan Quinn‘s Commanders had a standout year, with rookie Jayden Daniels leading them to the conference championship game. But complacency isn’t in their DNA. The Commanders made waves by signing Deebo Samuel in free agency, proving they were fully locked in. And they didn’t stop there. Now, take a second and think about an equally strong front office. Sounds intriguing, right? Well, the Commanders just made another major move. Wanna know more? Let’s dive in!

Washington Post NFL reporter Nicki Jhabvala broke the news on X, posting: “The Commanders hired former JBG Smith executive vice president Andy VanHorn as their head of real estate, as @WBJonline noted. He oversees all real estate-related work with the team’s properties and is the lead on their stadium development project. He started in January.” Along with Jhabvala, the Washington Business Journal explained the reasoning behind VanHorn’s hiring—his primary focus will be overseeing the new stadium project and handling all real estate-related operations.

Andy VanHorn has described his current job with Dan Quinn’s Commanders. The job description in his LinkedIn bio says, “I’m leading real estate-related efforts for the new team stadium, support facilities, and adjacent real estate. In this role, I work closely with land seller(s), government entities, and local officials. And I’m responsible for the design, construction, and completion of the real estate elements associated with the new stadium, as well as other team projects in the Washington metro area.” The Washington Commanders are eying the RFK site where they once played. The site is said to be still federally controlled. Only after confirming the site’s ownership can the franchise build their new home.

But Andy VanHorn’s LinkedIn profile shows his connection with the Washington Commanders franchise since January of this year. If we just scroll down his LinkedIn profile, we will also notice that he has already worked in the top and responsible positions before taking charge of the head office of the Washington Commanders’ real estate works.

Talking about his experiences in the field, Andy VanHorn worked with JBG SMITH for nearly 16 years. He was a principal at the company for nearly 12 years and after being promoted to the Executive Vice President job, the Washington Commanders picked him up. Before that job, he has also worked with Dweck Properties.

Well, after Andy VanHorn’s hiring for the real estate head position, it is highly anticipated that the stadium work will proceed at a fast pace. Let’s see how he moves ahead. Meanwhile, in another update, general manager Adam Peters is targeting a Cincinnati Bengals edge rusher. Who is this defensive player the Washington Commanders supposedly want at any cost?

Dan Quinn’s Commanders eyeing Bengals defensive end

We are talking about Trey Hendrickson. PFF’s Marcus Cameron dropped the insider update Saturday. “Commanders’ general manager Adam Peters has been no stranger to acquiring high-end talent via trades this offseason, and one notable spot he may target next is the pass rush,” the reporter said while highlighting how Dan Quinn’s Commanders want the 30-year-old NFL 2017 3rd round pick (New Orleans Saints).

However, the Cincinnati Bengals aren’t ready to let him go. They have already cleared the air that they will do whatever to re-sign Trey Hendrickson. But here is the catch. The $18,666,668 cap hit that Trey Hendrickson is carrying doesn’t quite fit into the Bengals’ remaining cap space of $23,932,791. A year ago, he signed a $21 million deal with them, but could only get $8,000,000 in guarantees. So, there’s a possibility Trey Hendrickson could move on from Cincinnati. Consequently, Adam Peters and Dan Quinn are eager to hire this outstanding player. But why Hendrickson?

First up, if we talk about the past season, the edge rusher was top in sacking quarterbacks in the entire league. Hendrickson managed to register 30 solo tackles and two forced fumbles along with a staggering 17.5 sack tally. Looking at the Commanders’ strong offensive side, hiring Trey Hendrickson would level things up on the defensive side to make them real contenders for the Super Bowl. Let’s see if the Washington Commanders can steal the edge rusher.
