Was going for it on 4th and 2 a gutsy move or a reckless gamble by Daniels?

The Washington Commanders could have come out with a win against the Philadelphia Eagles but they failed. In fact, Jayden Daniels and his team had a chance to overcome the Eagles’ 12-10 lead and the solution to that was very simple. They could have gone for a simple field goal but still they didn’t do it. Instead, Jayden Daniels decided to give 4 and 2 a try but fell apart.

This has caused the Washington head coach, Dan Quinn, to feel a bit uneasy about the ordeal. Quinn expected to be bombarded with tough questions after the 26-18 loss on the road. He subtly called out Jayden Daniels for the “bold” call he made at the Eagles 26 in the last quarter.

“Obviously to go forward and fourth down and two at the 26th. Bold call, but I would also say we were prepared for that moment. Don’t love the execution, but we’ve been an excellent fourth down team,” Quinn said in the postgame presser. He simply didn’t like the execution of the play. Daniels messed from the get-go.

First off, it was a fumbled snap. Daniels juggled the ball, somehow maintained his grip on it, scrambled, but was slammed out of bounds by the Eagles’ defense. The Commanders QB tried everything. However, he just got knocked out of bounds. Not that it matters, but Daniels completed 22 of his 32 passes over 192 yards, scored a touchdown and also threw a pick.

It was Zack Baun, who stopped Daniels short of getting the needed yardage and the Eagles linebacker had been on to Daniels since the start. He came out with 9 solo tackles and even defended a pass very early on in the game. Now more than ever, Philly fans want the Eagles to give him an extension.

Have an interesting take?

Daniels was “frustrated” after the game. He said that he doesn’t like losing. But look at this. The Washington Commanders have lost two games in a row now. In hindsight, the Commanders should have kicked that 44-yard field goal to secure a lead instead of allowing Daniels to get roughed up by Zack Baun.

The Commanders defense fell like dominos after Baun’s play and that gave a chance to Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley to run laps around Washington’s defense.

Saquon Barkley: Always making it look easy

The Eagles were thought to be cooked after the Commanders took an early lead. Also, Jake Elliott missed three field goals in the game. But Saquon Barkley came to rescue pretty late in the fourth quarter with his back-to-back touchdowns. The Eagles running back knew he had to do something after Jake Elliott missed the crucial extra point after Jalen Hurts’ tush-push TD.

Barkley achieved 20.78 mph on his 23-yard touchdown to give the Eagles a 9-point lead. That’s the fifth time this season Barkley has crossed the 20mph barrier, which is the most in the NFL. The Eagles’ running back is the epitome of quick thinking on the feet, quite literally. The separation he created on that 39-yard TD run was a delight to see. The RB had 146 rushing yards and two touchdowns by the end of the game.

The Eagles were 26-10 after that second run and the Commanders replying with a touchdown was of no use. Though Zach Ertz’s catch was too impressive. How can he be so quick with his toes? Got to give him props for that. Regardless, the Eagles are now 8-2 and have won their sixth game in a row, that’s unreal!
