Dan Campbell’s Detroit Lions dream crashed after the 31-45 playoff defeat to the Washington Commanders. What makes it so painful is that the Lions were the top-seeded team after their 15-2 record in the regular season. As if the bad luck has followed them into the off-season, the Lions have lost their defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, and offensive coordinator Ben Johnson.
But Dan Campbell cannot say it’s all dark and gloomy in his life, and his wife is making him remember just that. A few weeks ago, Dan’s wife, Holly, posted on Instagram to tell the world that Dan’s Detroit heartbreak is her heartbreak. That’s how strong their bond is. And now, she is telling the world she has been doing this for a long time, even back when people had doubts.
Holly Campbell took to Instagram to celebrate 26 years of being married to Dan Campbell, our Lions head coach. Her caption read, “And they said we’d never last. 26 years of love, laughter, and growth ❤️ Thank the lord for growth!! 😅#ichooseyou #anniversary #bigguyandbabe.”

She posted two pictures of her with Dan – almost like a time-lapse, showing them decades apart. But one thing is constant – them. The first pic is of them from the ongoing 2024-25 season at the Ford Field. And the second one? A throwback to the initial days of their relationship. Both younger Dan and Holly look absolutely fit and stunning in the picture. Anytime Dan feels a bit down, he should remember what an amazing lady he has in his life. She is the literal exemplar that he has won in life.
As they celebrate their anniversary, this is Holly’s subtle nudge to her husband to look back at how far they have come and that Dan should remember even the bad days are not that bad because she is there.
26 years have flown by for Dan and Holly
Even when Dan Campbell hadn’t made it, Holly was there. They met when Dan was at Texas A&M University between 1995 and 1998. In 1999, they got married. Incidentally, 1999 was also the year Dan’s NFL career began. Dan and Holly have a son, Cody, and a daughter named Piper.

For the majority of the journey, Holly has stayed away from the limelight to make sure she raises her children right. And Dan knows how important she has been for the family: “She’s been my rock, man. She’s moved with me, she tells me exactly how it is — in a good way — well not always in a good way, but my point is, she’s going to let me know exactly what she thinks, and that’s a good thing.”

Detroit is now a team that can challenge anybody in the NFL, and it’s thanks to Dan Campbell. Holly remembers how life has come full circle even if Dan may not remember it: “He always said, if someone would come and make (Detroit) a winner, it would be crazy. It would be like…the most amazing thing.” No wonder the Motor City has been so good to them, and she has slowly started to warm up to the popularity.
Holly Campbell has become an influential figure in Detroit, and after years of staying away from the publicity of social media, she has started to use it for the right causes – like when she wants to promote a local brand or talk about a charity.
