Since last season, the Lions have been a different beast, to explain you in simpler terms. After not winning a division title or reaching the playoffs for almost 30 years, they finally broke their curse in 2023. Although that run ended in a heartbreaking defeat to the 49ers in their NFC Championship game, the Lions are even better this season. Don’t forget the heaps of injuries they are dealing with right now.
They have now broken their franchise record of 12 wins with a comfortable victory against their divisional rivals, the Bears, on Sunday. This means the Lions have now won 13, the most ever in their 95-year history. However, their head coach, Dan Campbell, who has simply revolutionized the team, isn’t ready to celebrate just yet. Because their team still have a few games left before heading into the playoffs for the second consecutive season.

Starting with a visit to the Bay Area next week, the Lions will face a familiar foe that stopped them on their tracks to a Super Bowl run last year. Then, a few days after New Year’s Eve, Dan Campbell’s team will finish their regular season, taking on yet another divisional rival, the Vikings. Winning that clash may hand them the NFC North title that Detroit thoroughly deserves this season. Now, things could spice up a little if the Vikings lose to Seattle this week. If that happens, then the Lions can wrap up the division against the struggling 49ers next week.
That would mean it won’t be an epic showdown in Detroit to end this year’s regular season. Well, for now, the Lions control their own destiny. All they have to do is win their remaining games. And there you have it. The No.1 seed in the NFC and a first-round bye to get some of his key players back before the postseason.
While injuries couldn’t put a dent in the Lions’ strong finish to the season, Dan Campbell ensured everyone remembered how special their group is after today’s win.

Dan Campbell praises his players while calling out fellow rivals Chiefs and Vikings
11 players! That’s the total number of Lions that were in the injury reserves before today’s game. However, it didn’t really affect the Lions, who swept a Bears team that just lost their 9th game in a row. Now, after losing to the Bills, many of them thought that the Lions might fail to continue their early season momentum. But Campbell’s Lions yet again showed no matter what number of players they have on the treatment table. Results will remain the same, and performance will be even better at times. Just like this week, the Lions converted 7 of their 12 third downs.
His team racked up 475 passing yards on 10 offensive drives. Well, all thanks to their QB, Jared Goff, who was yet again in sublime form. The Lions QB completed 23-of-32 passes for 336 yards while throwing 3 TDs. Besides the air, Detroit also dominated on the ground through their running back, Jahmyr Gibbs. He had 23 carries for 109 yards and a TD early in the first quarter. Seeing his team dominate despite so many injuries led to Dan Campbell proclaiming, “Some players, coaches, and teams can’t handle the spot the Lions are in right now where they have such a small margin of error.”

Now, he didn’t just possibly take a vibe at Patrick Mahomes’ Chiefs and their divisional foes, Vikings, who are also in their hunt for the No.1 seed. Campbell also praised his group of players for stepping up every week, “Not our group though,” despite constant setbacks. The next few weeks will probably determine who gets what spot. As the regular season is almost coming to an end.
