Dallas Cowboys Confirm Mike McCarthy to Stay as HC Enters the Final Year of His Contract

The Cowboys have decided to retain Mike McCarthy as head coach for the 2024 season. The Cowboys failed to advance beyond the initial rounds in each of their last three postseason appearances. However, the team’s decision about McCarthy, reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, comes despite a mixed track record under his tenure. Schefter captioned, “This just in: Dallas is not making a head-coaching change and Cowboys’ HC Mike McCarthy is returning for the 2024 season, per sources.”

Now time will tell if this decision proves fruitful for the side or not. Not to mention, when the Cowboys had just lost, Cowboys’ owner, Jerry Jones had stood up for McCarthy. This was seen in the post game presser after their loss to the Packers.

In a recent post-game press conference Cowboys’ owner Jones openly expressed his shock at the loss. He declared, “This is one of my most surprises since I’ve been involved in school period.”

He also acknowledged the strong showing of the Packers while addressing the fans’ disappointment. He said, “I understand how much you deserve us to not have this ending.” Jones clearly avoided blaming the coaching or player performances. He emphasized, “We didn’t do it,” and “I don’t have any thoughts about the reasons why.”
