Wide receivers might be the flashiest players on the field, but let’s be real—behind every elite route-runner and highlight-reel catch is a coach putting in the work. And while there are plenty of solid WR coaches out there, one name is getting major props lately. And Brandin Cooks vouchs for him.

Brandin Cooks, who’s played with some of the best, put it bluntly: “I really believe Keith Williams is the best receivers coach in the league.” And honestly? He might not be wrong. Williams, now running the WR room for the Saints, has receipts to back it up—the dude has been shaping top-tier receivers for years.

Before he even touched the NFL, Williams was cooking at the college level. He spent nearly two decades fine-tuning receivers at schools like San Jose State, Fresno State, Tulane, and Nebraska. At Nebraska (2015-17), he helped Jordan Westerkamp climb the school’s all-time receptions leaderboard. Basically, if you were a receiver under him, you were bound to level up.

Then came his NFL glow-up. In 2021, Williams linked up with the Ravens as a pass game specialist and assistant WR coach. And that’s where he helped Zay Flowers go off in his rookie season—dude set franchise records with 77 catches and 858 yards in 2023. But here’s where it gets crazier—Williams isn’t just working with teams. He’s personally trained some of the best in the game. We’re talking about Davante Adams and Tyreek Hill. When those guys trust you with their craft, you’re officially him.

Now with the Saints, Williams is already putting his magic to work. Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed are out here getting better under his watch, and the Saints even added Marquez Valdes-Scantling midseason to stack that WR room. If Williams is coaching you, your game is going up. So yeah, when Cooks calls Williams the best WR coach in the league, it’s not just talk. The man has the track record, the talent, and the star-studded client list to prove it.

Derek Carr: The real MVP on and off the field

Brandin Cooks kept it real when talking about Derek Carr, saying, “He can throw any ball. Tough cat and a great leader. You talk about a guy who does so much for his team and community… Just a great human being.” And honestly? He’s not wrong. Carr isn’t just about dropping dimes on the field—he’s out here making a real impact off it too.

The dude’s been putting in work for the community. In December 2024, Carr and his wife, Heather, pulled up to the Salvation Army and threw a holiday luncheon for nine families struggling to make ends meet. Each family got $250 worth of gifts, and just when they thought that was it, Carr hit them with a surprise $5,000 in cash. That’s the kind of energy that got him named the NFLPA Community MVP for Week 17—because this isn’t a one-time thing for him.

Carr’s been about this life for years. In 2016, he started DC4Kids, a foundation helping children in need. And in May 2024, he and his brother, David, dropped a quarter mil ($250K!) to Valley Children’s Healthcare in California—the same place that saved his son’s life back in 2013. So yeah, Carr isn’t just leading on Sundays. He’s leading where it actually matters too.
