Dak is the youngest child of Nathaniel and Peggy, following his older brothers Tad and Jace. He got his football talent from his dad, who played defensive end and outside linebacker at Grambling State University. Peggy didn’t play football, but she was a huge fan. She even got a tattoo of a football with the number three inside it to honor her sons. “Even with the cannon going off and the crowd cheering, you could still hear my mom’s sharp whistle over everyone,” Dak shared with ESPN in 2013, adding that she would shout, ‘Hit him!’ throughout the game.

Even after her cancer diagnosis, Peggy traveled from Louisiana to Mississippi for Dak’s home games. But things didn’t go as planned. She left her kids alone in 2013. But her strength and hopes stayed with Dak. And now made him one of the most known faces of football and a savior for many lives fighting cancer.

After Peggy passed away, Dak Prescott started an organization in her memory and was honored as the 2022 Walter Payton Man of the Year for his foundation’s work in cancer research. The QB expressed his gratitude to everyone around him, including his father, siblings, the Cowboys organization, and those involved in his Faith Fight Finish Foundation. “I want to recognize the person who has had the greatest impact on my life, my mother, Peggy.” Saying she is still his moral compass and she is the reason he gets to share so much strength around the world.

But his hope to save cancer patients isn’t only restricted to his own foundation. On May 22, 2024, the Cowboys QB proudly presented a $2.1 million donation from the Children’s Cancer Fund to Children’s Health, money raised from CCF’s annual “Knight to Remember” gala. As an honorary chair for CCF, Prescott played a key role in launching mental health services for kids battling cancer.
