When Dak Prescott signed his 4-year $240 million contract in 2024, his motive was clear. After he started his pro career in Dallas, Prescott wanted to dedicate his prime years to the Cowboys only and give another shot at the long-awaited Super Bowl. “I wanted to stay a Cowboy and it got done,” Prescott said in 2024. Even though the Eagles badly defeated the Cowboys in both games [34-6, 41-7], the 31-year-old sounded confident of beating Philadelphia. “I feel like we compete with the Eagles and beat them for the most part,” he said earlier this year. See, you might have your disagreements with Prescott but one thing you can not deny is that he is THE QB Dallas needs, perhaps—or at least, that’s what Jerry Jones believed when he handed him a four-year extension. However, this offseason took an unexpected turn, fueling speculation that a move to the Browns was on the table. But with his latest move, Prescott has put all the rumors to rest.
While the 2025 off-season is underway, the Cowboys are not expected to make any quarterback move. We all know that the Prescott-Cowboys partnership has not worked as expected. And while there is still some good years left in Prescott’s NFL career, Craig Carton of Fox Sports believes he should just leave. “If I’m Dak, I’m done…I’m now going to ‘bet on myself’,” Carton recently said on The Carton Show. Well, there is still no concrete information about Prescott’s Cowboys future but his recent move suggests the 31-year-old is here to stay.
After his hamstring surgery in November 2024, the Cowboys‘ QB is already moving smoothly and looking locked in. While some dudes take their sweet time easing into the offseason, the 31-year-old’s out here acting like the season starts tomorrow.

He’s back running his usual offseason link-ups, throwing with backup QB Will Grier and a squad of receivers. Jalen Brooks, Jalen Tolbert, Brevyn Spann-Ford, Ryan Flournoy, and a few Oregon WRs—Jeremiah McClellan, Malik Benson, and Evan Stewart—are all getting in those early reps. This is not new for the quarterback—he’s been on this wave for years, making sure his chemistry with his guys is on point before OTAs even start. And despite coming off surgery, he’s already talking about being full-go by April.

But let’s be real—Dak Prescott isn’t just working; he is a man on a mission right now. His daily routine at The Star kicks off before 6:30 a.m., and he’s hitting strength training, cardio, and rehab sessions with his personal PT, Luke Miller. Plus, he’s been taking notes from LeBron James and Tom Brady, fine-tuning his health and recovery game to make sure he stays at the top of his craft. His goal? Show up to OTAs with zero restrictions and full send into the 2025 season.
And honestly, this grind makes total sense after the disaster class that was last season. The Cowboys fumbled their way to a 7-10 record and missed the playoffs for the first time since 2020. That led to Mike McCarthy getting booted, and now the team’s got a whole new vibe coming. Even before he dipped, McCarthy had hyped up Dak Prescott’s offseason program, calling it his best since 2020. If that’s true, Cowboys fans might have something to actually get hyped about this year.

With training camp still months away, Prescott is already setting the tone for a serious bounce-back season. His work ethic, leadership, and those extra reps could be the secret sauce Dallas needs to get back in the mix. One thing’s for sure—he’s not about to let last season’s Ls follow him into 2025. But it can’t all be that simple, right? After all, it’s the NFL.

Jerry Jones’ stirring the pot: Is Dak Prescott really getting shipped to another team?
Here we go again—another Cowboys offseason, another episode of ‘Will Jerry Jones Actually Pull the Trigger?’ And this time, the main character is none other than Dak Prescott. Word on the street is that Dallas is shipping him, and not just to any team—the Browns. Yeah, Cleveland. The same squad that’s been on an endless quest to find the guy at QB. Meanwhile, Prescott isn’t exactly vibing with how things are playing out in Dallas. After Mike McCarthy got the boot, he said he was “bummed” about it. And now? He’s gotta sit back and watch his name get tossed around like a trade rumor punching bag.
So, what’s really the deal? Well, his $240 million contract from last year has already been restructured, and now, insiders are saying the Cowboys and Browns are actually in talks. According to Bruce Drennan, negotiations are happening as we speak. And honestly? It kinda makes sense for Cleveland. Deshaun Watson has been mid at best, and the Browns wouldn’t mind a QB upgrade. But here’s where it gets messy—the money. If Dallas pulls the trigger right now, they’d be eating a $95.3 million dead cap hit. That’s brutal. But if they wait until after June 1? They actually save $2 million. Still not a bag, but in Jones’ world, every penny matters.

Now, let’s talk about what’s next if the Cowboys do send Prescott packing. If Jones is willing to let him go, you know he’s already plotting a replacement. And oh, look—Cleveland just so happens to hold the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. If Dallas makes the move, you can bet they’re eyeing a fresh new QB. Shedeur Sanders, anyone? The Jerry-Deion connection has been floating around for a while, and even Deion himself was rumored as a possible Cowboys coaching hire. A coincidence? Probably. But then again, when has Jerry ever done anything by accident?
At the end of the day, this trade still feels like classic offseason chaos rather than a done deal. The cap hit is nasty. The Browns don’t have that much room to work with, and this would be a massive gamble for Dallas. But let’s be real—this is the NFL, and Jerry Jones lives for the drama. So, is Dak Prescott staying? Is he out? Who knows! But one thing’s for sure—this is gonna be a wild offseason.
