With every day new day that comes, Jerry Jones seems to be under fire for every decision that he’s been taking in favor (at least, that’s what he thinks) of the Dallas Cowboys. If it isn’t fans questioning his sanity by firing Mike McCarthy and bringing in Brian Schottenheimer as his replacement. It definitely is something from the past. Recently, a page from Jerry’s poor decision making skills turned and reminded everyone how he had lost an opportunity to sign in one of the most skilled NFL players of the current times. Anyone can see how Jerry’s decisions are breaking the Cowboys’ SB dreams. As this NFL star chimed in about how Jerry missed out on working with him for the 2024 season.

During his recent appearance on The Edge with Micah Parsons, Derrick Henry jokingly said, “Man, he has my number blocked,” for Jones, putting it on the table that the Cowboys never reached out to him. Speculations about Henry joining the Cowboys had begun last year in the offseason. Since Henry lived in Dallas, many thought it would make sense if the Cowboys secured a deal with him. Alas, that call from Jerry Jones never came. This is how the RB then found himself signing a 2-year deal worth up to $20 million with the Ravens. The now Ravens’ star had previously mentioned how there was no interest shown from Dallas at all about his potential move into the team.

“It would’ve been crazy,” Henry had said. “I thought it’d been some type of reach out, some type of talks or whatever. They never reached out, you know what I’m saying? I don’t really know too much about their organization. All I know is what I hear. I was talking to my agent. They weren’t really interested. It is what it is. Like I said earlier, I’m gonna be where I’m gonna be, and I feel like Baltimore was the perfect spot.” However, the RB is happy that it worked out, in the end with the Ravens and so is Parsons.

Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons, who hosts The Edge, didn’t let the Henry Jab pass, he laughed at it and re-assured him that it was all for the greater good. “I’m actually happy that you had the year. … I was telling somebody last night, it was like, ‘Are you upset that Derrick Henry didn’t come to Dallas?’” Parsons said. “I said, ‘No, that’s not how God works. He was exactly where he was supposed to be. Year 8/9 of his career, still going for 1,800 yards, playoffs. He was exactly where he was supposed to be. I’m happy that he didn’t get ruined by us!’”, Parsons remarked.

The Cowboys’ LB’s comments made it clear that Henry had landed himself a much better opportunity with the Ravens instead of the Cowboys.  This just makes it clear that even if the Cowboys are linked to almost every celebrated free agent, they don’t make a call every time an opportunity presents itself.

Did the Cowboys dodge a bullet by not signing Derrick Henry, or was it a missed opportunity?

Have an interesting take?

The Cowboys had their fans worries with some serious news when Dak Prescott’s 2024 season was cut short due to his hamstring injury. And now, he is giving updates to his fans on his recovery from this hamstring surgery. On 3rd November 2024, during a game against the Atlanta Falcons, Prescott had a partial avulsion of his right hamstring tendon which caused his early departure. If you’re wondering what a “partial avulsion” is, just know, it’s painful, and it requires surgical fixation. Thankfully, Prescott sounds optimistic about his recovery. “Good, my health is good… I got all my confidence and we’ll be fine,” speaking to the reporters.

While Prescott is recovering, fans are questioning what the Cowboys’ offense will look like next. Although Prescott is confident that the new HC Brian Schottenheimer will take more control of the offense with his old-school approach. Creating the potential for more play-action passing, and benefitting both him and the offense line.

And what is his stance on the Cowboys’ future? Prescott still believes they will achieve something great. Had the Cowboys played well right from the beginning, they might have been competing for a Super Bowl. There’s no denying they have the talent to make a deep playoff run if they can stay healthy and put it all together when required. Fans must wait to see how Prescott recovers and if the Cowboys’ front office makes any further moves to strengthen the roster.
