Can Dak Prescott really fill Aaron Rodgers' shoes and lead the Jets to multiple Super Bowls?

As the 2024 NFL season draws near, the fans have a lot to look forward to. But without it even starting, we might have already jumped onto the potential trades happening in 2025. Players like Aaron Rodgers and Dak Prescott could soon be hitting the free-agent market if things don’t go around as planned. A-Rod is racing against time to ensure the Jets end their 13-year playoff drought in a do-or-die season. Meanwhile, Dallas QB Dak Prescott continues to be ignored by the hierarchy while poised to hit the market next March.

Covering this situation, an NFL analyst, Craig Carton, was quick to share his views on a possible switch happening after this season. Speaking on The Carton Show, he said, while asking us to think about a hypothetical situation where “Dak Prescott decides I am not signing I have had enough I need to get out of Dallas. I will never win a Super Bowl at Dallas. San Francisco is too good Green Bays are on the rise Detroit’s. Ahh, I am not gonna win, alright, I am going to the AFC.”

Talking about the AFC, Carton might be referring to the Jets, to which he teased, “But there’s a team in the AFC that’s got all the components in place to go and win potentially Multiple Super Bowls.” However, he was also quick to mention how that team might be lacking in a crucial position. To which he continued, “But there’s a team next year that has all the components except for possibly one, and that would be QB. Could you see Dak Prescott playing for the New York Jets? Aaron Rodgers is only signed till this year.”

The four-time MVP quarterback  A-Rod was supposed to change the Jets’ fortunes last season. But ended up getting injured after playing just four snaps while rupturing his Achilles tendon. For a 40-year-old, that was a huge setback that eventually sidelined him throughout last season. However, at age 31, Dak Prescott is miles away from becoming a veteran. Moreover, his numbers last season speak for themselves, where he completed 36 touchdown passes and a career-high 4,516 passing yards. This earned Prescott a spot in All-Pro honors for the first time in his career.

Nonetheless, it remains to be seen whether the Jets are going to poach Prescott after this season while moving on from Rodgers. Although this could seem like a step backward. As A-Rod was supposed to play a big role in changing the Jet’s fortunes. Will the New York outfit continue to show patience with an almost-retired QB or move on from possible dead rubber?

Have an interesting take?

Can Dak Prescott and Dallas agree to an extension, or will it be too late?

Jerry Jones seems to be quite relaxed regarding Dak Prescott’s contract situation. Claiming the contract circumstances “change everyday” and a new deal “can happen” if everything goes right. But is everything really going alright at the Dallas Camp? CeeDee Lamb is preferred over Dak Prescott in terms of contract extension. Thereby sending a direct message that Prescott might not be getting his new deal as Lamb’s hold-out has made the situation worse.

Dallas’s final team practice is set to take place on Aug 21st in Oxnard, California. That day could act as a deadline for Dallas and Prescott if they are eager to reach an agreement. Prescott seemed to be pretty calm regarding his contractual dilemma when he came out, saying, “The reality of it is that this is a business. There’s a lot of money in this game, a lot of people that have to be paid. There’s two sides to this thing.” Prescott will be hitting the unrestricted free agency at the conclusion of this season.

Dallas hopes to retain its star QB, who has been on the team since 2016. But an offer from another team, possibly the Jets, who could off-load A-Rod after this season, might be a great opportunity for Dak Prescott. Being a part of the Jets revolution while writing a new chapter in his NFL career could be too much of an allure for the 31-year-old.
