15 years ago, Blue released their song with legendary lyrics ‘One love is all we need.” In the world of the NFL, all it takes is one injury to crash the plane of hope. It happened with Dak Prescott. He was the savior of the Dallas Cowboys. But alas, he is down. The hamstring injury might cost them a heavy price. Playoff expectations are almost over. While fans are sad about this, some are seeing it as a god sent chance to try new players.
During the November 5 episode of the Pro Football Talk show, Mike Florio discussed their options with former CB Devin McCourty. Both of them agreed on one thing: the backup is Cooper Rush, and the first choice for the quarterback position is Trey Lance. McCourty said, “It just seems like as an organization you’ve been gifted this opportunity to go see what he can do but in true Cowboy fashion who knows if they’ll actually take advantage of it.”

Lance has only played 8 games in his career so far, that too for the 49ers. In those games, he started 4 with a 2-2 win-loss record. Rush has played comparatively more, 30 games in which he has a 5-1 record. But 24-year-old Lance has an age advantage in his favor. It all started when Jerry Jones announced 30-year-old Rush as the starting quarterback after Prescott’s injury. The veteran is taking advice. But the injury will take time to heal. He has to sit out for the next few games. It’s hard to watch.
With Dak Prescott expected to be placed on the injured reserve (IR) list, the team does have some games to try their backups. Rush, with a 5-1 win-loss record as a starting QB, has a huge responsibility. Can he help them win games? The team is already down with a 3-5 record after week 9.

It all comes down to their famous quarterback. Just before the season, he became the highest-paid QB of the league (annual salary-wise). There are wild theories coming out about the next course of action.

Did Dak Prescott abandon his team, or is his injury a genuine setback?

Dak Prescott attacked for quitting his teammates
While Florio and McCourty were more balanced in their approach, some other analysts were not. Ex-NFLer James Jones is one of those. What he said on The Facility show was so over the top that no one could understand how he got this theory in his head.

Talking about Dak Prescott’s injury, Jones claimed that the quarterback quit when his team needed him. His remark, “This is a hamstring for a quarterback who is not explosive in that position” would be remembered for ages to come. The former player then gave his examples, saying he suffered hamstring injuries many times but came back the following week.
The America’s Team needs to unite and focus on winning the matches in their leader’s absence. That would be a huge boost to the fans and a shock to the naysayers. For the last many years, the Cowboys story has been the same, start the season on a high and end it on a low. Can they end their 3-decade drought of the Super Bowl? We’ll find out soon.
