Things seemed a bit murky between Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys. However the CEO of the team, Stephen Jones, recently mentioned that the team is doing everything they can to reach a deal with Prescott. He also told the media that signing the QB is a priority for the team, and they are working ardently towards it.

In a recent episode of the SPEAK podcast, David Helman pointed out that Prescott has two options: he can either stay with the team or get more money somewhere else. However, paying Dak Prescott doesn’t seem to be an issue for the Cowboys, but winning a Super Bowl sure is. His comment got edged perspectives from the other analysts, all confused about the Cowboys’ next step.

Are the Dallas Cowboys set for imminent failure with Dak Prescott?

It is to the noted that the Dallas QB is surrounded by 9 All-Pros yet is not able to win much in the post-season, let alone securing a spot in the Super Bowl. Moreover, LeSean McCoy came forth with the perspective that the Cowboys should not pay Dak Prescott because he is not doing justice to his huge paycheck with his playoff numbers standing at a completion rate of a mere 64.5%, followed by only 1962 yards covered.

But despite all this, Stephen Jones is willing to give the QB another shot to get the Cowboys where they want to be. The CEO is expecting to give Prescott a new deal as he recently said, “Absolutely. I mean, I totally think Dak can lead us to a championship. He does everything the right way. He’s certainly the leader of this football team. He keeps everybody motivated in the offseason. He’s got everybody working out and doing all the things that it takes to put in the work to give yourself every opportunity to win a championship.”

But there is something about Prescott that Joy Taylor on the show pointed out. “You could argue that Dak gives you a chance to win a Super Bowl because he puts you in the postseason every year. You could argue that Dak does not give you a chance to win the Super Bowl because he loses early in the postseason every single year. So, what is the money worth when it comes to that?”

Perhaps this is what Jerry Jones is looking forward to. In the pre-draft presser, Jones tackled the Dak Prescott situation and said that he is waiting for this season to play out and judge Prescott’s performance before he decides on anything.

The Cowboys owner said that he’s “not ready to go” with Dak Prescott’s contract as things stand currently. “Well, we’d like to see some more leaves fall. We’d like to see some more action. It’s called option quarterback. I’ve spent my life [playing] option quarterback. I want to see some more cards played,” said Jerry Jones.

Jones said that he and the management have supported Dak Prescott throughout his career with the Cowboys and will continue to do so. “So, Dak has enjoyed, in his career that we’re proud of, some of the best supporting casts that you could put around him.” Despite Jones’ apprehension, he also mentioned at some point that the team “wants Dak Prescott and that’s that.”

There’s no questioning the fact that Prescott will make more money than what he’s already getting with the Cowboys if he does decide to move on. As the hosts of the show pointed out, taking Kirk Cousins as example, he only has won one playoff game in his career and still managed to grab a huge contract with the Atlanta Falcons. Someone will eventually give an experienced QB like Prescott a huge paycheck, but the real question is whether the QB wants to stick with the Cowboys or not.
