Dak Prescott believes in improving! Although his contract extension scene isn’t looking to improve anytime soon, the Dallas Cowboys quarterback is focused on the present – the OTAs under coach Mike McCarthy, whose future is also shrouded in uncertainty. However, both the quarterback and the coach are ready to invest their efforts into the upcoming season.
Addressing the ongoing OTAs, the coach applauded his quarterback saying that this is his “best offseason,” attesting to the team’s endeavor. The quarterback did not shy away from accepting this compliment during the recent post-OTA interview on Wednesday. He remarked, “I’d agree just first and foremost if it’s what I put into this game, it’s what this game means to me. My focus is always getting better, getting better overall in every way….Mike’s comments are a result of us doing that from the time this offseason began.”
The 30-year-old also indirectly credited Jordan Love and the Packers for the embarrassing loss the Cowboys went through in the playoffs. As per Dallas QB, that defeat is “motivating him individually….to go and accomplish the offseason that you want to have, take the steps necessary that you need and the time before you get back with the team.”

The Cowboys had a fine season last time. However, their quick exit from the playoffs against the Green Bay Packers devastated the players, staff, and Cowboys’ billionaire owner Jerry Jones himself. Shortly after the embarrassing loss (32-48) against Jordan Love and his team, Jones met with McCarthy for more than three hours. Eventually, it was decided that Jones would be giving his entire roster including coach McCarthy another chance, he wanted “to see some more cards played.”
That is precisely what the coach and the team have been working hard to help improve, a competitive roster. It seems the quick exit from the playoffs last year has immensely motivated Prescott. Hence, this time he is putting his all into the offseason, setting himself ready to win the Super Bowl title this time. The QB explained, “The growth in my play and the jump I’m making is the second year in his (McCarthy) offense as well as being more comfortable right with the footwork,” and the receivers around him are also more confident and comfortable this time under the coach.
Earlier there were reports that after the season-ending game, Jones might be harsh on McCarthy and some players. However, later the owner expressed, “Dak has improved since Mike has been here, and I think we can look forward to that improvement. There’s more there to get in terms of Dak’s improvement with Mike.” And probably he was right. Under McCarthy, Prescott and the team are indeed feeling confident and ready for the battle.
So, Prescott is currently focusing on his gameplay, rather than on his future and contract with the team. Besides that, he is also motivated, confident, and excited to play the next season, especially alongside Ezekiel Elliott.

Would the duo be unstoppable again?
Dak Prescott is thrilled to have Ezekiel Elliott back on the team for the next season. When asked about it, Prescott excitedly expressed, “The f–king best.” Both players were drafted in 2016 and played their first seven seasons together with the Cowboys. Elliot spent last season with the Patriots but returned to the Dallas locker room as a free agent.
Prescott and Elliot were once an unstoppable duo, with Prescott earning Offensive Rookie of the Year, and throwing for up to 4902 yards in one season during his first four years. Elliot, on the other hand, led the NFL in rushing twice and became a three-time Pro Bowler.

However, both have faced their fair share of ups and downs. Prescott missed most of 2020 due to injuries and led the league in interceptions (15) in 2022. Elliot had career-low rushing averages (3.8 yards per carry in 2022 & 3.5 yards in 2023) in his last seasons. Reuniting with Prescott and having a lighter workload might help Elliot rediscover some of his old form. Regardless, Prescott is happy to have his longtime friend back on the field together.
