The echoes of AT&T Stadium still hadn’t settled by the time Dak Prescott limped off the field last season. For fans, it felt like déjà vu—another year, another injury, and another dream derailed. Prescott, who once embodied durability with his iron-man streak of starts, has in recent seasons found himself more often on the injury report than the highlight reel. It’s the kind of twist that keeps even the most loyal Cowboys fans holding their breath with every snap. But for Dak, the adversity hasn’t just been physical—it’s been narrative-driven too. From whispers of decline to the looming presence of younger arms, the pressure hasn’t left the pocket. And as offseason buzz reached a boiling point, the man at the center of it all finally had something to say—about his body, his comeback, and a certain viral claim that had Cowboys Nation doing a double take.
It was week 9 of the 2024 season. The Cowboys were playing against the Falcons. Their quarterback, Prescott, looked fine until he held his hamstring. Something was off. Later, they conducted the tests. Boy, it was a shocker. He suffered a partial avulsion of the right hamstring and was ruled out of the entire remaining season. Now, he has got a positive update.
“If I had to play a game today, I definitely could do that,” the signal caller said while talking to reporters on Friday, the 11th of April. He was present at the 2025 Children’s Cancer Fund gala. That’s big news for America’s Team. They were waiting for an update for a while. Now, they could finally base their planning on assembling the surrounding team. But there was another concern. He looked thinner.

Dak Prescott said, “Yeah, I am getting close (to) where I want to be. I don’t want to put a percentage on it. (I) Know we got team activities coming up. Imagine myself being involved in some sort, if not all. It’s about getting to the fall and being my best in the fall, so not rushing anything. I am where I want to be.”

After the addition of Joe Milton to the roster, he is being warned by various analysts who claim he might lose his starting QB position if injury continues. James Jones said a few days ago on The Facility that Dak Prescott has a chip on his shoulder this year. If he fails to perform well in the playoffs or gets injured again, Milton could sneak into the lineup. It might be a remake of the classic 2016 situation when the QB was a rookie and replaced an injured Tony Romo.
The rumors are wild. But Jerry Jones & co. has always shown confidence in him. Even though the results, particularly in the playoffs, haven’t been great. They are still waiting for a Super Bowl. Amid this, something else has grabbed the internet’s curiosity.

Has Dak Prescott really lost 50 lbs?
For starters, Dak Prescott stands 6-foot-2 tall and weighs 238 pounds (according to Pro Football Reference). However, while updating the fans about the signal caller, His teammate and the Dallas tight end Jake Ferguson contemplated, perhaps exaggeratedly, that the QB had lost 50 lbs. That was a huge shocker, considering he was not on the heavier side. But Prescott increased the mystery surrounding the rumor by reposting it to his Instagram story with caption, “Slimothy, that’s me 😂.”

However, the signal caller broke the silence on it and laughed while saying, “Actually, I haven’t really lost any weight. I am about the same. Weights just move. Building my legs from the hamstring.” That’s great. He also had a funny banter with reporters over his nicknames, slimothy and real slim. It was a great way to share the reassuring news with the fans.

They were eagerly waiting for an update. Now that they can be sure of having Dak Prescott back in the scheme of things, expect the needle to move faster. After this, the Cowboys can now aim at the coming draft. He must be having conversations with the owner and the head coach Brian Schottenheimer, in his first year. Which positions do you think they’re looking “slim” in?
