When Carolina Panthers tight end Hayden Hurst returned to the practice on Wednesday, it was a surprise. Despite being out with a concussion since November 9, the TE was suddenly listed with limited participation on Wednesday, at the team’s website. But the bigger surprise, or rather heartbreak, was yet to come.
On the same day, he returned to practice, news broke out that the TE had suffered post-traumatic Amnesia from the brutal hit he took against the Bears last month. It was his dad who came up with the saddening update. Following it, notable names from the NFL world have sent their prayers for the 30-year-old.

Hurst’s dad, Jerry Hurst revealed the shocker on his X (formerly, Twitter) on December 7. Explaining the update, in short, he shared the biggest concern of all: the uncertainty about his full comeback. He also invited prayers for his son, as every father would do.

Answering the call for prayers, former NFL quarterback and interview host Robert Griffin III offered his prayers for Hurst. In a tweet, he wrote “Prayers up for Hayden Hurst 🙏🏾”, then tagged the tight end.

Before all of these were disclosed though, Hurst returned to practice on the same day. He looked fine with his recovery before the thunderstruck.

Hurst was just another addition to the infamous Thursday Night Football victims, which has recently been synonymous with injuries.
The TE returned to light practice on Wednesday, however. He wore a mandatory red no-contact jersey upon his return. And took part in drills and basic activities with it. But, surprisingly, neither his team nor his family had any idea about the lurking danger that was revealed later.
