Most people associated with the Chiefs have probably been struck by the way they lost the Super Bowl LIX. The score was 40-6 in favor of the Eagles with around 5 minutes left on the clock – a complete blowout, absolute domination; energy, intensity, and commitment peaking for Nick Sirianni’s men to engulf the Chiefs. Nobody could believe it would go down this way, not even Philly fans themselves. And also, not Gracie Hunt, Chiefs CEO, Clark Hunt’s daughter.
The Chiefs dynasty that has been taking shape since 2020 pointed to one truth, if not anything else – a standard of consistency. The Chiefs have barely missed a Conference Championship game. They have made a name for being clutch. The main guy taking up that responsibility being none other than Patrick Mahomes. So, when Mahomes started dropping the ball (no pun intended), the Chiefdom knew the night wouldn’t be theirs.
Now it’s all over. The dust has settled, and Gracie has come out in solidarity with everyone around the world who is proud to associate themselves with the Chiefs. Her Instagram post was as moving as it was powerful: “Praise Him when you win. Praise Him when you lose. 💔 Crying on the inside like a winner. It wasn’t the result we were hoping for, but so proud of this team’s heart and the incredible season we had.”

That is true. The Chiefs played a Super Bowl. 15-2 in the regular season, the first time they got 15 wins. Yes, the Super Bowl game was disastrous, and that’s what makes a Super Bowl special and also cruel. Lose and they treat it like it’s the end of the world.
No, Gracie has come out proud and is giving a shout-out to the Chiefdom. It’s not the end: “Thank you to our sweet friends and family who came to support this weekend and stayed through the post game reception. Thank you to every person in the Chiefs organization for going above and beyond in all you do—we love you like family. Thank you to the incredible fans who bleed red with us. You all are the heartbeat of Chiefs Kingdom and are truly the best fans in the NFL.”
Last, but not least from Gracie Hunt: “We’ll be back Chiefs Kingdom.” Oh yes, beautifully done, Ms. Hunt. Shades of Clark Hunt in 25-year-old Gracie. Yes, the Chiefs will be back. Don’t be surprised if you see them in the Super Bowl again next season.
In fact, Patrick Mahomes has made the same pledge after he uncharacteristically crumbled under Philly pressure.

February 9 was a dark day for Mahomes and Clark Hunt’s Chiefs dynasty
6 sacks in a game – forget the Super Bowl, Mahomes didn’t give 6 sacks away in any kind of game ever in his career. Add to that a pick-6. Even when Mahomes did find a target, his teammate fumbled. Whatever Mahomes touched went wrong. But Mahomes doesn’t blame it on the spiritual. After the match, the QB said, “…14 points that I kind of gave them. It’s hard to come back from that in a Super Bowl. I didn’t play to my standard and I’ve got to be better next time.”
The start was awfully pathetic. Just 23 yards ran by the Chiefs offense in the first half when the Eagles themselves had 24 points on the board. The match eventually ended 40-22. But the score actually flattered the Chiefs who were down 40-6 before the Eagles took their foot off the gas. No wonder the Chiefdom lost their voice. They had the stuffing knocked out of them completely. But Mahomes’ spirit is not broken.

“We will be back” – that’s what Mahomes has said. The kind of competitor Mahomes is, the magnitude of the defeat, the nature of the defeat – it will stick, and it will motivate him. Mahomes, Isiah Pacheco, Head Coach Andy Reid – they have already made up their minds. Rest hard. Comeback harder.
They will have to silence the critics and the doubters. The only way Clark Hunt’s team reclaim the status of a dynasty is by winning the Super Bowl again.
