The Kansas City Chiefs have had a Swift impact on viewership this season. Since the singer’s appearance at Arrowhead on September 24 at the Chiefs vs Bears game, the demand for tickets for the champions’ games has touched the sky. The Swifties have suddenly found their interest in football, and Travis Kelce has become part of their life.

The impact has been so massive it’s been giving tough competition to fellow headline grabbers Colorado Buffaloes’ ‘Coach Prime’ Deion Sanders, and global soccer superstar and arguably the most recognizable name on earth: Lionel Messi. On a personal account as well, her 2023 Eras Tour became the biggest tour in history, according to a ticketing giant.

StubHub is an American ticket exchange network that started its operations back in 2000. Although the company already became the world’s largest of its kind in 2015, it had to wait for 8 more years to witness the Holy Trinity of American Sports. The year started with Sanders’ joining the Buffaloes, then headlines crashed after Messi answered Beckham’s calls to join the MLS side Inter Miami. But more breaks were to be unveiled, and it came in the name of Taylor Swift.

And she hit like a truck. The immediate aftermath of the game reached record viewership for the season and infamously broke the US Presidential Election night’s numbers. But the effect had just started, and the aftershocks followed in the upcoming weeks. The Chiefs recorded a 300%, or 3x increase in their ticket sales. The October 1 game against the Jets at MetLife sold their highest number of tickets since the start of the season.

The following weeks continued the same trend, according to StubHub, which spiked daily average ticket sales of the defending champions by 235%. And these are all just ticketing statistics. We haven’t even touched upon the hundred others of endorsements and jersey sales. But how did all of this start in the first place? Maybe not talked about much, but Travis Kelce easily deserves the biggest credit for bringing a Swift craze into the NFL.

When Travis Kelce tried his luck with the singer at her Arrowhead tour back in July, he had no clue that the move was going to be historic. Taylor got to know about Kelce’s wish from his podcast and was impressed. “This all started when Travis very adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell. We started hanging out right after that“, Swift disclosed to Time.

Since then, the pair has been on a roll. After making a couple more NFL appearances, Swift flew to Argentina for her tour, where Kelce later joined him. A lot unfolded there, from changing the lyrics of her song for Kelce to kissing the footballer on stage. It was too much to fit together in the headlines. Coming back, things only got serious. Daily Mail reported that Swift was preparing to move in with Kelce for the next few months at his Briarcliff West neighborhood mansion in Kansas. Reportedly, even trucks were spotted while the singer was settling in.
