Last year, Jerry Jones told Dallas Cowboys fans they’d be “all in.” But when free agency came around, it was dead silent. No splash moves, no real action, just a lot of waiting that led nowhere. It stung, especially after that promise. So now, with the 2025 NFL Draft just hours away, fans want payback in the form of something big.

The Cowboys hold the 12th pick this year, and the draft’s happening in Green Bay. During Tuesday’s presser, Jerry Jones did drop a little something. He said this class is deep, and they’re hunting for a guy who can step in and make an impact from day one. Sounds like he knows he’s got to make it count this time. But wait, is it really a promise or just another high-profile drama?

During a new episode of The Dan Patrick Show, Marcus Spears joined in to talk about the Cowboys and Jerry Jones’ verdicts. Spears, who played with the Cowboys for seven seasons, believes that Jones’ words are deceitful. This happened when Patrick asked the ex-NFLer about the team’s inner workings and the owner’s latest draft comments. On which, Spears said, “It’s like when you’re in a relationship, and the man keeps telling the woman, I’m going to get better, right? And she realized like it’s we 15 years in now, and you still trying to do those things that you said you were going to get better at. I’m just going to wait and see with Jerry, man.”

ESPN analyst Spears isn’t getting his hopes up this time. So, it was obvious for the host to ask why Jerry Jones even made such promises. On this, the former defensive end admitted, “I think the intentions are good, and I say that all the time, right? Their intentions are good, and then Jerry gets off on another tangent, and he forgets that he has to run a football team. So yeah, it’s unfortunate. It’s something I grapple with most of the year since I decided to do this job.”

No doubt, it’s frustrating even for the Cowboys fans who come to the games only to watch their favorites go back without a major win. Nevertheless, if someone still has the power to believe in what Jerry Jones said, they are really hoping that this time, Jones’ bold move will do some wonders in the draft and the future.

Jerry Jones teased ‘substantive’ trades!

Jerry Jones got folks talking again. Just days before the draft, he stood in front of reporters and hinted at something big. He said he’s working on two “pretty substantive trades,” saying, “We’re looking at two things that could happen before or after the draft. Two pretty substantive trades. Been working on today.” Wow, it sounds like a mission. But the thing is, Jones didn’t give any details about it, which was just enough to stir the pot. Classic Jerry, right?

The Cowboys have done this dance before – 72 trades since he took over in ’89. And with over $37 million in cap space, they’ve got the room to make a splash. They’ve already made a couple of moves this offseason, grabbing Kenneth Murray Jr. and Kaiir Elam. But when rumors started swirling about Courtland Sutton? Jane Slater shut it down real quick–called it fake news.
