Cooper Rush signed a $12.2 million/ 2-year deal with the Baltimore Ravens. Meaning? No more Rush hour in Dallas. The QB may not have been a franchise face or the primary game caller, but with him on the roster, the Dallas Cowboys knew they had a serviceable spot starter they could rely on. We all knew we had a chance to win. However, after eight years of being the backup QB for the Cowboys and Dak Prescott, Rush’s sands of time have run out in Dallas.

Rush came to Arlington as an undrafted rookie in 2017. While he succeeded in his short stints on the field, he could not find a way to be the backup QB for Dallas. Until, Prescott had an injury. And that was it. Since then, Cooper was a mainstay in the team as a QB2, playing when Prescott would collapse. However, as the calendar pages kept changing, so did his value in the team.

It reached to the point that last season in Week 18, Trey Lance started over him. Now you see, he started every game since week 9 when Prescott was ruled out of the season due to a hamstring tear. Also, the start would have brought a $250,000 incentive to Rush. While the Cowboys owner Jerry Jones ensured that was not the reason for starting Lance, who can say if it truly wasn’t. Now, for Rush, it is time to close this book and start a new one. But first, he has a warm message for his fans before moving to Baltimore.

On Wednesday, Rush took to his Instagram to share a compilation of his Cowboys tenure with an emotional message. “From an undrafted rookie wearing #7 to an eight-year veteran wearing #10. I appreciated every moment in a Cowboys uniform. Thank you, Dallas, for all of the love that you showed to me and family. I’m excited for the next chapter but forever grateful for the first one.” See, Rush may not have been an outright starter in the Cowboys uniform, but he was indeed a reliable backup whenever it was his turn to hop on the gridiron.

Signed as an undrafted free agent in 2017, Rush only played 5 games in his first stint with the Cowboys. His best years in Dallas came in the final 4 seasons that saw him slowly make his mark on the team. 2022 was his kind of breakout year as a Cowboy following Dak Prescott’s thumb injury.

Starting 5 games, Rush led the Cowboys to 4 straight wins (a franchise record for a first-time starter). However, that insane run came to an end at the hands of the Eagles. And just like that, the next week, Rush was back at his usual role, with Prescott reclaiming his starting duties. Still, there were more Rush hours to come.

2024 was kind of his biggest year that saw Rush start 8 games. Midway through the season, Prescott was out with a season-ending hamstring injury. So, Rush had the whole position to himself. And boy, did he give his all. Throwing for 1,844 yards, 12 TDs and just 5 INTs. Copper’s final year in Dallas saw him at least leave with his head held high. He just couldn’t get the Cowboys into the playoffs, which surely could have been cherry on top. But he has finally spoken about the move, and it was sudden for even him!

Terry is right Zak going to choke, not worth 60 million

Cooper recently made an appearance on The Lounge where he revealed that the Ravens flew into the conversation suddenly. “It kind of came out of nowhere, and [I] was super excited when my agent said the Ravens called. Obviously, from afar there in Dallas, you see the Ravens are a well-run, good organization. Obviously, tons of success, especially recently. So, I was like, wow, O.K., this is sweet. It materialized, and here we are.

“It’s really exciting to be on a good team. You get to 9–5, we had some good teams down there in Dallas, so you don’t have to play out of yourself. You can play within yourself, do your job, rely on your teammates, and I think you have a similar situation here. Really good offense. Just kind of go do your job, get the ball to the fast guys, let them work, and do whatever you need to do to go win.”

Clearly, the QB is looking forward to being with his new team as he leaves the home he lived for eight years in behind. But it’s not just that he will miss the fans. His former teammate Prescott for whom Rush has filled in also had a message for him. Taking it to his Instagram story, he shared Cooper’s image of being signed to the Ravens with a caption, “Thank you Brother ❤️”

Rush showed enough potential that even exposed Terry Bradshaw’s hypocrisy. Let’s just say Bradshaw’s take on Cooper Rush will definitely upset the league’s richest QB, Dak Prescott.

Terry Bradshaw’s U-turn on Dak Prescott needs to be studied

You know, there was a time when Prescott’s future in Dallas had dark clouds hovering above. I mean, after coming off a career-high season with the Cowboys that saw him throw 36 TDs and just 9 INTs, Jerry Jones still didn’t offer him an extension right away. Classic Jerry move. So, when Prescott had all the leverage to himself, Terry Bradshaw opened up on his true feelings about Prescott.

“I am a huge Dak Prescott fan. I believe Jerry Jones will do anything to win.” Well, of course, Jones did break the bank and gave Prescott a $60M per season contract extension last September.

However, Prescott couldn’t live up to his expectations in the first year of that record deal. Within 8 weeks, his season was over after leading the Cowboys to just 3 wins. Then it was Rush hour time yet again. Cooper also started 8 games tallying in 12 TDs, but ultimately it wasn’t enough. The seeds of the Cowboys’ failure were already sown through their horrendous start to the season under Prescott. And that led to a change in Bradshaw’s opinion of Prescott, someone he praised a few months back.

“He Rush should probably be the starter when the other guy comes back,” Bradshaw said live on air. Ohh!! That other guy jibe. Bradshaw didn’t even mention Prescott by his name as his fellow FOX broadcasters including Michael Strahan were flabbergasted. So, now it’s totally up to Prescott once he does come back to being the starter. Will he be able to give a fitting answer to Bradshaw’s bold claim and make him eat his own words? Or will it be the Fox broadcaster having the last laugh from his studio? What do you think?
