Jerry Jones thought he was robbing a bank with his 2024 draft strategy—turns out he left the vault wide open. Cue in the sad violin meme.

The Cowboys’ decision to ignore the running back position left fans fuming, and now, a year later, Dallas finds itself back in the draft spotlight, eyeing another prospect in Ashton Jeanty. To be fair, if they manage to pull him to the Big D, it might save some shame for JJ.

But that’s just another maybe in this Jerry Jones Circus.

Looking at the current roster, ‘Mess’ is the word that comes to mind. Chaos is what they have been creating so far in the free agency market. So, that makes them an easy target. However, how many would have thought it’d come from a college star? Sigh!

Enter Cam Ward, Miami’s star quarterback and the expected No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Instead of playing it safe with PR-friendly answers, Ward decided to take a not-so-subtle shot at the Cowboys’ defense. And let’s just say, he didn’t hold back.

Let’s set the scene for you. Fresh off a stellar Pro Day. One would expect Cam to go on about flexing his arm strength. Oh, nah, that’s not his style. He wanted to fight… Jab, jab, hook!

When asked about his transition to the NFL, he used the Cowboys’ defensive scheme as Exhibit A for why he’ll have no problem torching professional secondaries. “I think some teams in the NFL did a lot of two-high stuff, like Dallas,” Ward said. “They leave way too much space on the sideline, down the seams.” Translation? He thinks the Cowboys’ defense is a buffet, and he’s coming in hungry.

What’s your perspective on:

Could Shedeur Sanders be the spark the Cowboys need, or is Prescott still the man for Dallas?

Have an interesting take?

And it’s not rocket science to decipher why he said that. After all, the Cowboys’ defense ranked 28th overall in total yards allowed per game (355.24) and 31st in points allowed per game (27.5) in the 2024 season.

Now, let’s be real—Dallas has been catching strays left and right lately. Former players are calling them out, current players are firing back, and now, a guy who isn’t even in the league yet is throwing punches. The wildest part? Ward won’t even be wearing a Cowboys jersey next season. The Titans, Browns, or even Giants hold the cards with the top 3, and unless they do something completely unpredictable, he just wants to rile Dallas.

Now, who knows? He might have succeeded in his expedition? But for now, it’s better Jerry Jones doesn’t get his ego hurt with the comments from a potential No.1 rookie. Instead, he better focus on getting things right in the current market within the organization.

Jerry Jones and Dak Prescott’s divorce, to begin with?

This particular statement doesn’t give ‘getting things right’ vibes. I know. I hear you. But that’s what is being suggested. And it makes sense. Just read it through.

The cries in Dallas must be deafening. The Cowboys are staring down a quarterback dilemma, and Jerry Jones is right in the middle of it. Dak Prescott is rolling into his 10th season, Trey Lance is hitting free agency, and Cooper Rush has packed his bags. So, who’s next under center?

Dez Bryant, former Cowboys All-Pro and forever unfiltered on social media, threw a grenade into the discourse. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Bryant made it clear he sees some competition brewing for Prescott. And who does he have in mind? None other than Shedeur Sanders—the most talked-about quarterback in the upcoming draft. With his electric play and undeniable swagger, Shedeur could be the kind of QB that fits the Cowboys’ glitzy, headline-grabbing identity. But would Jerry pull the trigger?

It’s not as far-fetched as it sounds. Jerry Jones has already dialed up Deion Sanders once this offseason when Dallas had a coaching vacancy. Would he call up Coach Prime again, this time to talk about his son? If the Cowboys wanted Shedeur, they’d have to trade up. And that means pressure on Jones, on first-year head coach Brian Schottenheimer, and most of all, on Prescott. Bringing in Shedeur wouldn’t just be a draft pick. It would be a full-blown quarterback controversy.

And let’s talk about Prescott for a second. He’s the highest-paid player in NFL history. The face of the franchise. The leader of America’s Team. But let’s not pretend his job would be safe if Dallas made a move like this. If they trade up for Shedeur, it’s not to let him sit. That kind of move forces a decision: roll with the proven veteran or hand the keys to the future. Either way, the locker room would feel the tremors.

Now, is Dez Bryant an NFL insider? Not exactly. But he’s closer to the Cowboys than most, and when he talks, people listen. Whether his prediction holds weight or not, one thing is certain—Dallas is walking into draft season with the drama cranked to the max.
