This off-season, a lot is happening in Dallas. Has Jerry Jones changed his old ways for the sake of the team? Well, as difficult as that question is to answer, one has to admit that something is up with Mr. Jones this time. He missed the NFL Scouting Combine, breaking his years-old tradition of a fancy bus interview at the Combine. Interestingly, the Cowboys, infamous for delaying contracts, re-signed two players before free agency. Well, that’s unusual.
But then again, Micah Parsons’ contract extension is still pending. It could be happening soon now that some players have restructured their deals. It’s a hustle to end the 30-year Super Bowl drought. However, wait! One of their players has shown a great heart for Dallas.
You’ve got to admit, CeeDee Lamb is a team player. While everyone is waiting for any news on Micah’s extension negotiations, Cowboys star WR CeeDee Lamb has restructured his contract with the team. That’s right, and this news has created quite a frenzy in the NFL world, with everyone appreciating Lamb. Enter Dez Bryant, former Cowboys WR, who lauded Lamb’s efforts.

“Great move 88,” wrote Bryant on X, tagging CeeDee.
It was then that fans on X started having a chit-chat with Bryant, tossing some questions his way, to which the former WR would reply. A user then chimed in, writing, “Think Dak is next?” Translation: Can Dak Prescott restructure his $240 million contract to make some cap space for the team? And Bryant’s reply was, “If he wants a chance at winning the big one… then you have to make the necessary move to have a chance.” That’s straightforward advice.

Both Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb had their contract extensions in the 2024 season when they were in their final year before hitting free agency this year. Micah Parsons has also been demanding the same from the team, with one year left on his rookie contract. On Tuesday, Jerry Jones’s team also re-signed G/C Brock Hoffman, who will probably fill Zack Martin’s shoes. The team also re-signed defensive star Osa Odighizuwa to a four-year, $80M deal.

CeeDee Lamb’s bold team move!
The spotlight is shining bright on CeeDee after his contract restructuring news because it’s not every day you see star players agreeing to take a financial cut. But the Cowboys WR has put the team first with his bold contract move. On Tuesday, after the team re-signed Hoffman and Osa, Todd Archer from ESPN reported, “The Cowboys have restructured the contract of Pro Bowl wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, creating $20 million of salary-cap space, according to sources.” That’s one bold move.

CeeDee’s earlier contract was a four-year deal worth $136 million. The star WR had $100 million guaranteed, with $38 million as the signing bonus. That was quite a lot of money. And maybe that’s why a fan tossed this question to Lamb: “Such a dumb move, can I ask why?” Interestingly, the Cowboys star replied to the curious fan, “I want to win. It’s gonna take more than just myself.”
A Super Bowl is the ultimate goal for Lamb.
Despite the Cowboys’ dismal performance, the 25-year-old wide receiver ranked 7th in receptions and 8th in receiving yards. He recorded six touchdowns. The 2024 season marked his third consecutive year with 100+ receptions.

The wide receiver’s move could be due to Micah Parsons’ contract extension. Parsons signed a four-year, $17,079,793 contract with the Dallas Cowboys, including a $9,781,668 signing bonus and $17,079,793 guaranteed. The team is reportedly having discussions with Parsons’s agent about the new deal. CeeDee knows well the value Parsons brings to the team’s defense. He is currently one of the top linebackers in the league.
CeeDee Lamb’s decision will free up around $20 million in cap space so that the team can add and keep other players on the squad. Next, maybe Dak Prescott could also consider a restructure. If he does, then doing the math, his restructuring could free up around $40M in cap space. That would give Dallas more flexibility. But it all depends on whether Prescott would consider this move or not. What do you think?
