The Dallas Cowboys are always in other problems, controversy, or terrible seasons. But Jerry Jones also likes to keep things in the air and not settle any issue until it turns head toward the franchise. After Mike McCarthy’s departure, the three-time Super Bowl winner owner is looking for a new head coach. The Colorado Buffaloes HC and former Cowboys star Deion Sanders is top of the list along with other candidates. Amid this whole churning of opinions and picks, former Cowboys legend and former HC has shared his important take on the HC search.
Jimmy Johnson, the former Cowboys legend, was on FOX’s analysis table with other greats. When the topic of Jerry Jones’ search for the Cowboys came up, Johnson said, “This decision is tied directly to the quarterback Dak Prescott. He signed a $240 million contract. It has a no-trade clause. He’s had tremendous success in this system. So it doesn’t make sense to bring in a new offensive system.” That seems to be an honest thing to say. He also touched upon topics like potential head coaches.
Talking about the two important internal contenders who can take up the HC position, Jimmy Johnson added, “The two key figures here are Brian Schottenheimer, the offensive coordinator for Dallas. And like I said, Dak’s done a great job in that system.” But after this, the two-time Super Bowl champion continued adding one more name for the Cowboys’ HC job: “Kellen Moore, offensive coordinator for Philadelphia.”

Johnson also said, “He was a coordinator prior to Schottenheimer. Now Jerry could surprise us with a decision. But I think those two key guys are the ones you start with. So it sounds like Jerry is looking to go with someone he knows who’s an offensive guy there. We’ll keep an eye on that.” Well, Kellen has been there in the Cowboys‘ HC conversation since the debates started.
But no one knows what would Jerry Jones decide. But in the case of Brian Schottenheimer, he has been in the Cowboys building since he was a coaching analyst in 2022. Whereas, Kellen Moore, Eagles‘ OC, has worked with Jerry Jones from 2018 to 2022, as a quarterback coach, and DC. Moore has also played for the Cowboys from 2015 to 2017.
It can be a hard choice for the Cowboys among the two. But meanwhile, his rumored talks with Deion Sanders have picked up a rapid pace. But how is the Deion Sanders’ talks going with Jerry Jones?

In the case of Deion Sanders, he may join the franchise not only to be an HC but to involve and teach his sons as well. This take on Sanders was actually of his friend Robert Griffin III. He also said that, probably Deion Sanders would prefer to join the New England Patriots with son Shedeur as he would learn much more things from the GOAT Tom Brady himself.
RG3 has said, “I’ve talked to Deion, and I knew months ago that the only way he will go to the NFL is if he had an opportunity to coach his sons. And he has been very adamant about that recently.” Well, it can be a rumor that the Colorado Buffaloes coach would shake hands with Jerry Jones. But no one can deny the fact that he has been a great admirer of Jones. That’s why he may approve the offer if it’s there.
