“I want to see us be aggressive,” Cowboys LB Micah Parsons made his demand known to the fans in February 2025. But Jerry Jones did what he has been doing for 3 decades. Let the players’ demands fall on deaf ears. It happened when they drafted Alabama’s Tyler Booker in the first round (12th overall) this year. WR Tetairoa McMillan was available. But the owner is happy with his selections. His focus was on defense, and he successfully drafted players who could stop the rivals.
The last pick (247th overall) for America’s Team this year, Maryland DT Tommy Akingbesote, was on Cloud 9 after getting drafted. He is excited to share the locker room with one of the best defensive players in the league right now, Micah Parsons! Why shouldn’t he be? In 63 games (all starters) so far in his 4-year career, the linebacker has 52.5 sacks with 256 tackles (172 solo).
The last pick labeled the LB as a role model and also gave the reason, “It’s just the way he approaches the game. He a pro. He’s a technician, and everything about Micah just breeds winning and Super Bowl mentality.” That’s right. His tenacity and the will to win are evident in crucial situations.

DT Tommy Akingbesote said Micah Parsons is a “great role model for me.” Why? “It’s just the way he approaches the game. He a pro. He’s a technician, and everything about Micah just breeds winning and Super Bowl mentality.”

To put things into perspective, he is 7th in the Cowboys’ leaderboard for career sacks. If he records the least number of sacks in one season till now (12 in 2024), he will jump to the 4th position. It’s no mean feat. Plus, he is also a vocal leader. The debate, though, is whether it’s a positive or negative trait in any athlete. But fans love him for saying his heart out. For the owners, it’s a handle with care scenario.
Jerry Jones revealed that they had graded only 12 players for the first round. And Tyler Booker was one of them. So, they did get what they wanted. But the linebacker was unimpressed.

Micah Parsons criticizes Cowboys’ top draft pick
The LB was watching the draft, and he couldn’t hide his disappointment while tweeting, “No way” with a facepalm emoji. The 6-foot-5, 321 lbs offensive guard is a powerful beast, but the new HC Brian Schottenheimer needs to work on him. While the people in the building are excited, many understand that he is still an ongoing project.

Are the Cowboys wasting their Super Bowl window with questionable draft picks?

That’s a big reason Micah Parsons is worried about. He later clarified his stance on the shocking reaction while saying, “It’s not about Booker personally. I’ve watched the tape. He’s a beast. But we needed someone NFL-ready now, not a project.” It’s coming from 4 seasons of frustration.
The Cowboys’ rookie sack record leader really believes that they are a serious Super Bowl contender. “We don’t have time to develop guys for three years. We’ve got the pieces to win now. Don’t waste that,” Parsons added. But what else can he say? Truth be told, the Cowboys enter each season on a high. But their QB Dak Prescott hasn’t taken them into a Super Bowl even once.

It’s not his fault alone. Micah Parsons should study history, which tells us that America’s Team hasn’t won the Super Bowl since 1995. And is it really the players’ fault? Jerry Jones never changes his shrewd ways. We saw it last year when he extended CeeDee Lamb’s contract till a few days before the offseason. Parsons’ contract extension is still under review. Will there be any change? Don’t be surprised if everything goes the way it has gone for the last few years. That’s Jones’ way of doing it.
