Where do the Cowboys go from here? After losing their fifth game of the season against the Falcons 27-21. The Cowboys are not only facing an early exit before the playoffs. They have further problems after Sunday’s loss. Already trailing the game by 27-13 in the fourth quarter, the Cowboys found their QB Dak Prescott suffer a hamstring injury.

This led to him getting ruled out for the remaining minutes in Atlanta. However, before heading down the tunnel, Prescott completed 18-of-24 passes for 133 yards alongside a TD. Although his hamstring may have brought him down on Sunday, Prescott could be suffering from yet another injury. As some of the cameras showed him playing with a swollen hand. With no confirmations just yet on a possible hand injury.

Prescott came out and gave his insight on the hamstring he suffered on Sunday, “Pulled something… it’s very difficult… I wanted to go out there, I wanted to go out there and fight… I felt something I’ve never felt (before) and it was tough to walk…(but) it’ll take a lot for me to not be out there (next week).” Even though the 31-year-old expressed his desire to go back out on the field, his proceeding ended with Cooper Rush replacing him.

And for the final 10 minutes remaining in Atlanta, Cooper racked up 115 yards alongside a TD that wasn’t enough to string a comeback. Before his brief outing today, Rush had already played two games this season, completing 9-of-14 passes for 52 yards and just an interception. Even in 2022, when Prescott suffered a broken right thumb, Rush was given the opportunity to start in 5 games.

Well, his contributions weren’t that bad, as Cooper went 4-1 as a starter in the absence of Dak Prescott. After his thumb injury, Prescott started 36 games without any injuries. But now it looks like he may have to say goodbye to that record. Otherwise, him rushing on the field next week without proper clearance could make his hamstring way worse.

With the Cowboys coming back to Dallas empty-handed, their owner, Jerry Jones, decided to clear the air surrounding Mike McCarthy’s future in Dallas.

Jerry Jones delivers an emotional message after their loss to Falcons

Although the Cowboys fans could hate their GM Jerry Jones for his lack of offseason activity, he was trying to lift up the mood after losing to the Falcons. With Dak Prescott leaving the game late into the fourth quarter and WR CeeDee Lamb also taking a hit, Jones came out and gave his thoughts to the media, “That room is full or guys who can get it done. I believe in them. Coaches and all.” Him reiterating his trust in Mike McCarthy even after the Cowboys’ latest loss would surely save his job for now.

But those weren’t the only thoughts Jones shared with the media. As the NFL trade deadline came closer, he was asked whether the Cowboys would be busy before the window closes on Tuesday. And the 82-year-old may have renewed some hopes in Dallas, as he said, “Some things in the mix. We’ll probably do a couple things this week. I’m a long way from being dismayed about this team this year.” Although knowing Jones and his lack of trade activity, the Cowboys could still remain hopeful before the trade deadline.
