Cara Blackmon Harting was the inaugural winner of the prestigious Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders award. Her passion and love for dance paved the way for the next generation of Cowboys Cheerleaders to come in and bag this award. She showed how much of a blessing it is to be a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader. Now following Harting’s footsteps is Louisiana State University alum Ariel Brumfield. She is the latest addition to this coveted list, which showcases the hard work of those who never miss a beat in cheering for their beloved Cowboys.
Ariel was just 7 when she started her dancing career. From an early age, she fell in love with the moves and grooves. She was a part of her middle school and high school’s dance department. And never missed a chance to showcase her talents whenever it came to dancing. After she graduated from high school, Ariel went on to serve as LSU’s Tiger Girl. She even captained the team in her senior year, helping the LSU Tiger Girls win the 2022 D1A Hip Hop National Champions trophy. What made it more special was that, until Ariel’s captaincy, the LSU Tiger Girls had not won the award in 12 years.
So, having rocked the dance floor with incredible talent, Ariel chose to pursue her dream. “I have wanted to be a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader for as long as I can remember. Anyone who knows anything about NFL cheerleading, knows about the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders,” Ariel said after joining the Cowboys. And boy, did she impress in her first year as part of the DCC. The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders’ official Instagram page announced on Tuesday, “Our Rookie of the Year, Ariel 💘💫✨,” as they shared mesmerizing pictures of her.

Ariel was captured holding a Game Ball presented to her for winning this coveted title. She was also pictured with the Cowboys Cheerleaders’ Choreographer, Judy Trammell, and Director, Kelli Finglass. While Ariel was given the Rookie of the Year title, second-year member of DCC, Kayla Hayes, won the Veteran of the Year award.
Kayla Hayes shines while Ariel steals the limelight
Ariel may have showcased her dancing prowess by winning the Rookie of the Year award. But Kayla wasn’t far behind with her skills on the sidelines. DCC’s official page announced Kayla as their “Veteran of the Year, Kayla 💖✨🌟” on their Instagram. Like her younger counterpart, Kayla was also presented with a game ball. Among the series of photos DCC shared, Ariel and Kayla were also pictured embracing each other, holding their respective game balls.

Similar to Ariel, Kayla also started her dancing career when she was just three years old. Cheerleading might be her passion. But Kayla also excels in ballet, jazz, and hip hop. Contemporary, tap & pom, lyrical, and pointe. She danced for four years during her time on the Butler University Dance Team. And also went on to serve as their captain in the last two years. Like Ariel, she also dreamed about being part of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleading squad since middle school. So, when the opportunity came knocking at her door, she didn’t think before dedicating herself to DCC.
