In 2022 when the NFL draft season was almost in its closing stage, Brock Purdy’s nerves were getting intense as none of the team showed interest in him. But then came San Francisco 49ers‘ head coach Kyle Shanahan, who had seen his clips from Iowa State, to draft him as their final pick with a base salary of $705, 000. Now, the 24-year-old is only hours away from getting his hands on the Super Bowl LVIII Championship, and of course, the iconic ring if they keep the Kansas City Chiefs at bay. And a former Super Bowl MVP member was the latest to join the build-up.
Super Bowl rings are an integral part of the NFL’s biggest showdown, but only the winner will hold this memoir forever. While they are very costly to make, this year’s costs are a little interesting but more than that, the 49ers have a lot to ponder. According to several reports, the 2024 Super Bowl Championship ring costs $11k to make. And each member of the winning team, including the coaches, receives a ring, taking this year’s total cost to over $800k.
Although it seems a little cheaper, the cost hasn’t changed much with the average yearly cost around $1 million. However, it isn’t the cost that makes the ring special, it’s the Super Bowl victory.

But Brock Purdy might have a different opinion. The 49ers quarterback’s total cap of the 2023 contract is at $889, 552, and with Championship rings costing about the same, he might feel underpaid.

However, the bigger reality check is for the 49ers as Purdy has gone on to become an essential part of the team, and they can’t afford to lose him. He was the protagonist in their victory against the Detroit Lions and will play a crucial part on Sunday as his comparisons with NFL legend Kurt Warner, who rated him higher than Patrick Mahomes, rage on.

Kurt Warner on Brock Purdy
Like fans, NFL legends are also excited for the Super Bowl LVIII. And the latest to join the build-up is retired Hall of Fame quarterback, Kurt Warner. He expressed his admiration for 49ers’ quarterback Brock Purdy, who lately has been compared with Warner. “I’m not sure there is a quarterback that’s played better over the last year and a half than Brock Purdy“, the 45-year-old told ESPN.
Purdy became the second quarterback in NFL history to tally three games with three or more touchdown passes and a passer rating of 140 or higher in his first two seasons. Warner was the first player to do it, and he showed some love to Purdy for matching his accomplishments. Last November Kurt took to X to appreciate 49ers’ Brock Purdy for tying his NFL record. He captioned the post, “Now Brock Purdy is taking my records… nothing is sacred anymore, haha! Well done young man, just one more example this kid can flat play football, hard to fall into things like this!!!”

Talking about the comparisons, Warner dismissed the assumptions, saying there was a lot of difference between his story and Purdy’s, and he didn’t face scrutiny in the season as the 49ers star did. “I looked like every quarterback“, he explained while adding that Purdy had played among greats, including Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen. He further said, “The contrasting of these two players both being at the mountaintop… He’s not Patrick Mahomes yet, just let him be Brock Purdy.”
