Nominative determinism took a beating the day Cooper Rush decided to become a quarterback instead of a running back. It’s been a slog for him, there’s only room for 32 starting quarterbacks in the league after all. And try as he might, he hasn’t been able to break into that 32.
Well, now that Dak Prescott‘s injured, Rush has a shot at the spotlight with the Dallas Cowboys. 8 years into his NFL career, Rush has had the support of his beautiful family all along. Here’s all the details.

Cooper Rush has had the support of his lovely wife Lauryn all the way through. An Illinois native through and through, she was working in advertising with Bloomberg when she met Rush in 2017. They hit it off quickly, and she followed him wherever their journey took them. Since their wedding in 2020, they’ve had two kids, and the family of 4 is now flourishing.

The older kid, Ayla Patricia Rush, wasn’t an easy birth. Lauryn Rush catalogued her pregnancy journey on Instagram, step by step. At their 20 week doctor’s appointment, they got the worst news they could get. They already knew the child was going to be a girl, but they were informed she wasn’t growing. In terms of growth, she would end up between the 3rd and 12th percentile every appointment.

Thankfully, 38 weeks in, the appointments finally started looking much more hopeful. Two weeks later, the Rushes were parents to a beautiful baby girl. Born weighing 6lb 5oz, Ayla Patricia Rush was a healthy kid, and is now a bounding energetic girl. Their second pregnancy was announced with an Instagram post in September 2022. It was a simple announcement: “We are expecting! Baby Rush, March 2023,” with a copy of the ultrasound scan. The date was slightly off, though.

When were the kids born?
Rush girl #2, Evelyn Frances Rush, was born on February the 27nd, 2023, narrowly missing the predicted date. Cooper and Lauryn must have been happy just to see her born, though. Little Ayla was born less than 2 years earlier, on the 24th April, 2021. Understandably, parenting two kids so close in age can feel quite difficult. Lauryn made her concerns known in an Instagram post in December 2022. While describing how clingy Ayla was, she said, “I want to soak in these moments, but know when the baby gets here, my time will be split…” A touching sentiment.

Right from the start, Ayla had been a frequent visitor to the stadium, cheering her dad on. In a tongue-in-cheek reference, in another post, when Lauryn and Cooper posed at a game without Ayla, the caption read, “Ayla’s going to be so mad when she finds out we took her sister to all these games and left her at home.” But now that both girls are bubbly and big supporters of their dad, nobody’s left out.
We wish the Rushes, and Cooper Rush in particular, all the luck in the world for his next game with the Cowboys.
