Is the NFL risking player health for ratings by ignoring concussion protocols with star quarterbacks?

The league needs to review its concussion protocol. It can’t be ignored that easily. Particularly with the injuries to quarterbacks, such as Josh Allen and Tua Tagovailoa. It’s not the first time in their careers that both QBs have suffered a concussion. Now, questions are being raised by people from the medical world.

A concussion doctor named Chris Nowinski questioned the management’s decision to put Allen back on the field after hitting his head on the field. He called it a risk and gave an example of Tagovailoa.

Tagovailoa suffered a concussion during the week 2 game against the Bills. He is currently on IR. The Dolphins are also not revealing the exact information about their QB’s recovery. But it is being said that he is in touch with several doctors nationwide for an early recovery.

Allen gave flashbacks of that week 2 scene. He hit his head on the turf and was immediately taken to the sidelines. Upon inspection in the medical tent, he was cleared to play again. That’s what the neuroscientist Nowinki has problems with. The detailed report about Allen’s condition is still awaiting.

Amid these claims of concussion setback, let’s review previous injuries of the Bills‘ quarterback.

A few years back in 2019, the quarterback suffered a similar concussion injury as well. It was the week 4 game against the Patriots. But he suffered a head injury in the 4th quarter and remained on the sidelines for the game and also missed out on the next one. That’s only about head injuries.

Josh Allen has suffered various injuries over all these years. In the first game of this season, he injured his non-throwing hand. He had a similar injury in 2022 when he tore his arm elbow in the week 9 game. But the QB showed strength and played all games in the season with that injury.

However, there might be calls for retirement soon, just like for Tua Tagovailoa. Ex-NFLer Dez Bryant tweeted about the Dolphins QB, “NFL go ahead and do the right thing. Tua has had entirely way too many concussions. He need to retire for his longevity health concerns.
