Should Tua Tagovailoa prioritize his health over his NFL career? What would you do in his shoes?

The “Thursday Night Football” on September 12, 2024, became a nightmare for Dolphins’ QB Tua Tagovailoa. The QB was taken out of the game in the third quarter after falling on the ground after a hit from Bills safety Damar Hamlin. This incident made his fans and team worried about him.

Some even called him out, asking for his retirement from the NFL. “That’s it… NFL, go ahead and do the right thing,” posted Cowboys former WR, Dez Bryant on his “X.” He mentioned the topic again in the Ross Tucker Podcast, “I would not play football again if I were Tua” mentioned it is 100% Tua’s but the QB should know life after the NFL is pretty fun.  And even though the retirement decision is tough at the age of 26, he needs to think about his health and make the right decision.

It sure is a tough decision for Tagovailoa, at one side, he has his career and a $212.4 million contract he signed with Miami. On the other hand, the most important thing is his health. But considering he has already faced the same issue back in 2022, everyone’s concern is justified.

However, Dez is not the only one who has expressed his concerns. Broncos former TE Shannon Sharpe, also dived into the discussion, mentioning, “Really hope Tua is ok, but he’s gotta seriously think about shutting it down.” He hates saying this because Tua has his whole career ahead of him, but his concussions are getting “worse and worse” which might be a problem in the future.

As long as Tua does not wish to retire, what everyone else thinks does not matter. And by the latest statements, it looks like his team wants to hold on to him.
