The Chiefs may have won in Cleveland, but there are concerned faces all across Kansas City after Sunday. Whatever the result was, the Chiefs Kingdom had to witness their star QB, Patrick Mahomes, leave the field in the final quarter. He was limping on the sidelines because of an ankle injury. Only eight minutes of regular time remained when Mahomes found himself sandwiched by two Browns defenders.

Trying to complete a short pass on a fourth-and-3, Mahomes was on the receiving end of a brutal hit. This left him wobbly while trying to get back up. Although he did, Mahomes couldn’t walk properly, thereby forcing the Chiefs into a change. They threw in backup QB Carson Wentz while Mahomes was tagged questionable to return. However, the three-time Super Bowl Champion didn’t return; instead, worrying footage was released by Fox Sports after the game.

In that short clip on Instagram, Mahomes was captured leaving his locker room on a cart. As for Mahomes, before leaving the field on Sunday, he had already done enough to help the Chiefs secure their 13th win of the season. Throwing for 159 yards, Mahomes recorded 2 TDs, both in the first half, that helped the Chiefs cruise to their victory.

After the game, Mahomes himself said, “I wanted to go back out there and I probably would have fought a little bit harder if the game had been one score.” But finally, it wasn’t this time. After winning so many one-score games this season, the Chiefs had some healthy breathing space against the Browns. However, Mahomes wasn’t too happy with the scheduling, which had the Chiefs playing three games within a span of 10 days. Imagine the holiday season for Mahomes and Co.

In simple words, they wouldn’t have any, “You never want to play this many games in this short of time. It’s just not great for your body. But at the end of the day, it’s your job, your profession. You have to come to work and do it.” Amid all this chaos, Andy Reid offered some respite to the Chiefs Kingdom on Mahomes injury.

Andy Reid offers a positive update on Patrick Mahomes ankle

Fans were not at all happy with Andy Reid when he didn’t replace Patrick Mahomes right away. However, after the game, he came out and uttered a few words that could be enough for their fans. “It’s not broken, it’s sore,” Reid said on Mahomes high ankle sprain. He further added, “It’ll literally be day to day. He probably could’ve gone back in, He wanted to go back in. There was no need for that.” Yeah, right. Finally, Mahomes didn’t have to risk himself by hopping back on the field.

Carson Wentz did his mop-up duties in Mahomes absence. He completed each of his passes for 20 yards. He also earned the praises of Reid, “We have good support behind him with Carson.” But the thing is, will Mahomes manage to come back before his team takes on the Texans next week? Even if he does manage to return, the Chiefs will have another game within four days on Christmas Eve. They will have to take on the Steelers, who are flying high with Russell Wilson this season.

But right now, only time will tell whether the Chiefs can get their crown jewel back before those games. Otherwise, huge troubles would be waiting for them as they try to complete a historical 3-peat this season.
