When the Eagles started the season, nobody thought they’d go on a 3-loss streak. But the Super Bowl runner-ups have managed to do exactly that with the loss vs the Seahawks, losing the NFC lead spot in the process. And none other than Jalen Hurts himself had to question the team’s commitment following the loss.

But at Thursday’s post-training press conference, the quarterback sounded rather optimistic. Contradicting his previous “commitment” statement, Hurts blamed one particular person. But can the Eagles turn things around after matching an unwanted record with the loss streak?

Jalen Hurts finds the root of the problem

Hurts found out one person who was at the root of the problem: himself. “As a carrier for all of us, starting that with me. So I take ownership for all of that”, he took the blame on himself, being the captain of the Eagles. “I think everyone has the right mentality, I think everyone is pushing forward and I think everyone is approaching it in the right way”, he took a different approach to indicate the problems than before.

The QB then revealed his future plans for their redemption. “Everyone has to challenge themselves to do that and that starts with me”, just like the blame he insisted the changes would come through him as well. “The one thing about leadership is you never want to tell someone else to do something that you’re not going to do, and so I take on this”, Hurts cleared his views about a true leader, planning to follow the same route.

While the QB took a rather positive turn following his commitment statement, can the Eagles avoid the historical downfall they are already halfway through?

Jalen Hurts may kick-start redemption but will that help?

Earlier, the QB directly questioned the team’s commitment following the Seahawks’ loss. “I don’t think we were committed enough, you know. Just gotta turn it around”, he said to reporters. Hurts even doubled on the fact that they were lacking commitment. “Commitment… I don’t know how else to say that.” But the QB later went on to say that everyone was doing their job, changing his perception.

But how does that help the Eagles? With their 4th season loss, the Eagles recreated a decade-old feat achieved by the Jets, but rather unwantedly. They became the first 10-1 team since 1986 to concede 3 consecutive games, which stopped with 6 total losses for the Jets. Their season came to an end after losing the divisional round with 6th straight loss. Can the Eagles avoid the same fate after all these years?

That is the question that might be haunting Jalen Hurts most at the moment. And he better start the change ‘with him’ to escape one further loss.
