The Washington Commanders are still busy fine-tuning their roster. Under the new ownership of Josh Harris group and head coach Dan Quinn, the franchise is undergoing a shift and making some big changes. After drafting Jayden Daniel as No. 2 overall, Dylan Thompson is the latest addition to the team.

The former quarterback has served as the director of team development in the Detroit Lions and Houston Texans. The character coach would now be joining Commanders carrying success stories of having shaped many Texans rookies.

One player who couldn’t help but express his admiration for their players’ development coach is C.J. Stroud. “I think I grew tremendously, man,” he said, as per Click2Houston. “I know he’s going to be mad at me for this, Dylan Thompson. Oh my gosh, Dylan is one of the best human beings that I’ve ever met in my life.

Having been drafted by the Texans last season, the rookie expressed candidly how much the “main support” support meant to him. “You talk about a brother like to somebody who loves you no matter what happens on that field, you can feel that,” Stroud explained. “I just appreciate that and now he’s going to be mad at me, but, man, he’s a great person, and really one of the reasons why I feel like we were very successful this year.

Stroud’s statements are more than adequate testament to Thompson’s skill and personality. And it’s not just the signal-caller who holds the opinion in Houston, either.

There is no Will Anderson without Dylan Thompson

Will Anderson, who’s from the same draft as Stroud, also credits his standing as an athlete to Thompson. “He was our player personnel guy. He was with us,” said the defensive end via USA Today. “You know, you see me, there’s no Will Anderson without Dylan Thompson, man. He took out whole rookie class, C.J. can attest to the same thing.”

Anderson also revealed how Thompson would go beyond football to know the person behind the position personally. “He was like, I -couldn’t care less about the football, I just wanna know the person, the human, -like who are you outside of football. Spiritually, he was great, like he connected us even more with God, taught us how to be great leaders, how to change our minds to that..and he’s always one call away.”
