Last year, Magic Johnson began his partnership with the Washington Commanders but witnessed a dismal season. Interestingly though, this season is not at the mercy of Ron Rivera, and instead, Dan Quinn is in charge of honing Jayden Daniels and potentially going on a Super Bowl run. While the scenes on the field are yet to set their tune for the Commanders’ HC, he already has a game plan for an invite to Magic Johnson’s Yacht escapades.
A host on Kaplan and Crew asked Quinn, “Did you get an invite to Magic Johnson’s Italian Yacht getaway this summer?” Quinn declined to receive any sort of initiation from the NBA legend and believes that he’s too far away from getting one. There’s only one way that Dan Quinn is getting on that huge yacht: by winning games. “I did not,” said Quinn and explained, “One of the messages I saved on my phone after getting the job was for Magic Johnson. I said alright that’s a pretty cool moment right there. So, you know, he calls you to say ‘Hey Dan he is Magic you know’, yeah, I know who you are.”
He further explained: “But spending some time with him both in Virginia and out in LA you can see why this guy has won in literally everything from competing as a young guy through college to the NBA. Then in the business side like that man is one of the truest competitors through and through. So, I think I’ll have to win a few games before that invite comes out to the yacht.”

But just like Dan Quinn and the Commanders, the Los Angeles Lakers might also have to win a few games this season after LeBron James’ squad got eliminated by the Denver Nuggets in the last postseason. The host joked about JJ Reddick being on the yacht along with Magic Johnson, the former Lakers legend.
However, Quinn knows what JJ Reddick the new Lakers Head Coach, and himself have to do to earn that visit. “So maybe JJ and I we get some wins. We got earn it bro, got to earn it,” said Dan Quinn. Johnson takes extravagant trips in big yachts and sets sail across the Mediterranean from time to time. It often includes his family and a ton of memories.
Magic Johnson sailing the ocean in luxury
If anything screams luxury, that’s a $125 million Aquila Super Yacht (Burgess) or a Phoenix II from Burgess Yachts that Johnson chartered by paying more than $1 million a week. About a year ago, Johnson’s family was cruising on the Mediterranean on the Phoenix II. He took to Instagram and shared some flicks of his escapade. His usual route: Greece to Italy.

His Instagram post from a year ago read, “Cookie and I are excited to have our kids Andre, EJ, Elisa, our daughter-in-law Lisa and grandkids Gigi and Avery join us on the yacht!” as it showed a happy Johnson surrounded by his kids and extended family. But if you bet on the trip being family-exclusive, you would lose some money.
On the same trip, people such as the NBA legend Michael Jordan, renowned actor Samuel L. Jackson, Judge Greg Mathis, and many other affluent people made their presence known. Even Jimmy Kimmel wanted in on the action. Nonetheless, as pointed out by Commanders’ HC Quinn, if the team manages to put up some Ws on the cards, they might be cruising and enjoying their time with Johnson and Co. However, for now, Quinn’s focus will be on the upcoming season as he will make sure to “learn the lessons from previous experiences that you can then go apply them.”
