As if practicing with VR wasn’t enough—the Commanders have now brought some Madden flair to elevate Jayden Daniels’ game. Yes, you heard that right. The Commanders could soon use plays from the video game Madden to continue Daniels’ development. It’s like they are taking those Super Bowl odds and Daniels’ chances of converting that Offensive Rookie of the Year to MVP pretty seriously. That urge to keep Washington’s meteoric rise going has landed them 3rd generation Madden that roots back to late legendary NFL head coach John Madden.
Well, Madden was renowned not only for coaching the Oakland Raiders to a Super Bowl XI win but also for his contribution away from the gridiron. After moving away from coaching, Madden transitioned into broadcasting. He used to be a color commenter for NFL broadcasts from 1979-2009. Those 3 decades of broadcasting landed him 16 Sports Emmy Awards while sharing his voice for networks like CBS, FOX, NBC, and ABC. And, of course, how can you forget the iconic Madden NFL game? Like the game is literally named after him.
With that being said, the Commanders have hired the grandson of John Madden, Jesse Madden, as their offensive quality control coach. Looks like they are heavily invested in the idea of having Madden’s mind around Washington. Jesse once told the Bay Area News Group how he grew up studying his grandfather’s Raiders for hundreds of hours. Multiple reports have stated he even learned over 1,600 plays to get a feel of what it truly means to be a Madden.

However, Jesse doesn’t have that experience of coaching under his belt like his grandfather did. This would be a quick transition for Madden’s grandson, who just graduated from Michigan. His journey for the Wolverines started off as a QB, but he soon switched to defensive back. So, it remains to be seen how well he can help Jayden Daniels. Like will this Madden experiment for the Commanders be a success? Or are they just asking too much for a man who clearly isn’t experienced enough? While we are waiting to figure out how this ends. There’s an NFL executive who feels Jayden Daniels still hasn’t peaked yet.
NFL executive drops a bold prediction about Jayden Daniels’ potential
Daniels is already coming off a not-so-rookie year for the Commanders. Picking by Washington as their No.2 overall, Daniels was expected to at least give the Commanders some stability. They just had a 4-13 season, so anything close to a winning season would have been great. But Daniels ended up defying all expectations. He pulled a team from the trenches and took them on a magical ride to the NFC Championship game for the first time since 1991.

Like Daniels completed 69% of his passes for 3,568 yards for 25 TDs on the air. He even rushed for 891 yards and scored 6 TDs on the ground. This trend even continued in the playoffs, where Daniels passed for 567 yards while throwing 4 TDs, all on the road. That level of consistency and play-making abilities doesn’t come easy. That’s why one NFL executive told ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, “He’s scary. He’s never rattled and elevates everyone around him. I hate to use the word generation, but it really looks like he’s that.”
Now, that’s another NFL executive who believes Daniels still has a ton of room to grow. “Jayden hasn’t even touched the surface of what he can become. It’s crazy to say that because he’s already one of the league’s best.” Who knows, maybe Daniels will match his expectations this season. And if he does, then he will surely be at the Super Bowl, as many have already predicted.
