Jim Irsay, the Indianapolis Colts owner, like many footballers and football team owners seems like an avid golf fan. And speaking of golf, Bryson DeChambeau has the US Open title win over Rory McIlroy in the game that happened in Pinehurst, North Carolina. In a 3-day golfing affair, DeChambeau and McIlroy were competing tough, until a few minutes ago, when the winner was decided.

Bryson DeChambeau who also went to SMU with the Colts owner, came to pay his salutations to the 124th US Open winner. His post on X was reminiscent of the time when he was young, but still had a knack for golf, even in his haydays.

“This weekend I was reminded of the ‘75 US Open when I was caddy on the Medinah “Monster!” And this one today was also special for me—Bryson DeChambeau attended SMU (my alma mater). Congrats to Bryson and his family! 👍⛳️,” said Irsay’s post on X. Congrats indeed, because the golfer is set to take a huge chunk of money home.

DeChambeau will take home a check of $4.3 million, while the first runner-up will be taking home about $2.3 million, and the second runner-up, $1.4 million for their achievements. This year’s purse had a whopping $21.5 million in it. This victory marks DeChambeau’s second major title win.

This also marks the second major title won by an active LIV Golf member, joining Brooks Koepka’s victory at the 2023 PGA Championship. But despite all his efforts, he wants his supporters to get a glimpse of what it feels like to win a major title.

“I haven’t really let it sink in yet,” DeChambeau told NBC and added, “Tonight I want all of you guys, somehow, to touch this trophy, because I want you to experience what this means and what you all mean to me.”

And just like Jim Irsay, many football players came forth to wish the 30-year-old golfer.

Jim Irsay congratulating Bryson DeChambeau has the whole NFL show up

Marlon Humphrey, the cornerback for the Baltimore Ravens came out to show his support to DeChambeau as he posted on X, “Let’s go Bryson…!” initially and then replied to himself by adding, “YESSIR.” But he wasn’t the only football player to wish the 30-year-old.

3x Super Bowl winner Patrick Mahomes appreciated the game and took to X saying, “GREAT bunker shot!” The QBs post got quite some traction and is sitting at 136k views currently. Again, Mahomes and Humphrey aren’t the only golf connoisseurs out there. It’s also Eagles’ recently signed RB Saquon Barkley.

Barkely celebrated DeChambeau’s victory by also taking to X and posting, “Man I love golf!!” Perhaps the game was too exciting for anyone to miss out. After all the dust settled, the man of the hour Bryson DeChambeau came to appreciate what the triumph meant to him. “This will be the highlight of my life,” the 30-year-old told NBC and added, “I still can’t believe it.”
